Wizards/Nets: 26+2029 Knicks 1st+2031 Knicks 1st for 6

Simple trade:

With the Wizards getting gutted by the outcome of last night, they like no one at 6 (assuming some combination of Flagg, Harper, Edgecombe, Bailey, and Johnson are gone). They decide to punt on this draft and get two potential valuable unprotected future 1sts well into the future hoping the gods smile on their cursed franchise.

The Nets have oodles of cap space and will go after someone that be attracted to the NY market. Getting someone like Friers, Queen, etc at 6 is a nice start along with 8.

It's hard to justify trading a guaranteed top 6 pick for multiple high variance picks. I would think it would cost the entire NY bucket of picks - 27 1st, 28 swap, 29 1st - where your basically banking on an aging team potentially coming off multiple long playoff runs having an off and/or injury hit year.

Maybe it's something like NY 27/28 swap/29 - but need the multiple shots in a row type of thing to even consider this if I'm Washington.

I also don't like this for the Nets. If the prospects there aren't good enough for Washington, why are they for Brooklyn? There is no star free agent to come in and make them meaningfully better than Washington but if you were doing that you'd want to use picks for sure thing veterans not a prospect not good enough for a talent starved Wizards roster.

Also, the Wizards would benefit from adding one of those players. They have what, 1.5 foundational players right now? 3 if you are an optimist. I'm cool with shorting the Knicks if you feel like a gamble, but the Wizards shouldn't be turning their noses up at talent right now.

I can’t see Brooklyn doing this at all. Those future 1sts are reserved for a star.

Yeah if I'm Washington I just take whoever I have as the BPA.

Assuming Flagg/Harper/Ace/VJ/Tre are the top 5 in some order, I don't hate the idea of them taking Derik Queen at six. Probably a reach on paper but I like his fit next to Sarr and Coulibaly in the frontcourt, plus he's a local kid.
