Spurs/76ers/NOP

Post#1 » by Astaluego » Wed May 14, 2025 10:01 am

SPURS
In:#3/Pacers FRP 26(NOP)
Out:#2

Spurs very well covered at guard position, select Bailey who would be an ideal fit and obtain a future asset

76ers
In:H.Jones/#7
Out:2/Oubre

With scarce assets to fuel a reorganization, they drop a few spots in the Draft (Queen?) and get a wing that should fit perfectly with their young guards.

NOP
In:2/Oubre
Out:Jones/7

NOP gets the best guard in the Draft, to play alongside Zion/Murphy

The gap between 2 and 3 is way wider than a first from a playoff team. No idea why Philly is in here.

Philly is how the Spurs get 3.

Dropping 4 spots for only Herb is very steep. And I don't think the Pels are paying enough to get up from 7 to 2.

Too good for SA. There is a massive gap between 2 and 3

A late first rounder is nowhere near enough to give up your preferred option at the top of the board. Not even close. It'd probably take a McCain type asset to get the Spurs to swap from a consensus 2nd pick to a non consensus 3rd pick, maybe more. I remember people last year trying to get the Spurs to package 4 and 8 + stuff to move up to 2 in a class perceived to be much flatter, that was crazy but still this isn't enough.

Are you saying the Spurs would consider 3 and McCain for 2?

I don't know that they would, but they won't hang up the phone in laughter.

Feels like both teams moving up are getting too good of deals. Spurs might still do their part if they actually prefer a different player to Harper, but if I did, I'd open the bidding to Charlotte as well. I think Harper is worth quite a bit more than all the other options.

I think the Pelicans should get cut out. Herb Jones while quite valuable is not enough to turn the 7th pick into Dylan Harper. As for the 76ers, if they're going for Harper, they should include a different 3rd team that's willing to give up significant value for Tyrese Maxey and those assets go to the Spurs.

The original was way light for SA, but we can't seriously be arguing Morey should be willing to trade Maxey to move from 3 to 2. The pendulum is swinging wildly.

This is also why the Sixers are terrible fits in all of these deals. It makes no sense to trade PG coming off of that year. It makes no sense to move Maxey unless they fall apart again next season and OKC views him as the last piece or something. Embiid is untradeable. Their depth has been gutted and consolidation trades are almost impossible.

The three arguably available pieces of value they have are 3, McCain, and that LAC 1st. The only obvious fit there is someone else coming up to 3 and paying assets that can be used elsewhere to do it.
