If we draft him, Jeff Peterson deserves to lose his job

His athletic testing was pretty bad yesterday. He might prove me wrong and be this hidden African gem and the next Embiid but honestly I would rather some other team take that risk than us. Everything with him is too much of a prediction because he wasn't that good of a shot blocker, wasn't a shooter, wasn't a post scorer and wasn't a good rebounder this year.... I have pointed it out but Dukes defense was actually much better without him in the game.

I'm terrified Jeff Peterson is going to do his own version of "punting Monk so that he can draft Bouknight" except with an actually really good player.

I put very little stock into the combine shooting drills because its such a small sample, but it might be noteworthy that Maluach went 0/25 in the 3pt star drill.

dx vid of him shooting 3s. you knew it was coming.
There's part of me that still thinks he is very much in play for this front office at 4. Especially if they've already decided to move on from Mark.

Mark Williams was a better college player than Khaman. Better rebounder, better shot blocker, more polished offensively.
Mark is actually bigger than Khaman too, would make no sense for us to waste a top 5 pick on a worse player and then trade Mark for peanuts.
So yeah have to assume at least 20% chance we do it then.

Mark averaged 7 and 4 as a freshman, but yeah they’re similar.

I've said before not to sleep on Maluach. And I think those that want to fire the front office that drafts him are short-sighted in their evaluation. I also disagree with those that think drafting Maluach means the Hornets will trade Williams. The Spurs are reportedly thinking of drafting Maluach in a trade-down scenario to pair with Wemby. And they're considered to be a credible organization when it comes to drafting. The point is that pairing two giants, especially one with developing three point skills, may move the needle in the NBA to a new paradigm. Franchises are always looking for an edge, and this may be a way to get one.

I would draft Edgecombe, then Ace before Maluach, but I would take Maluach over Tre Johnson or Jeremiah Fears. Why? Because I think Khaman Maluach has that alpha in him, supported by the physical profile to impose his will. He's not a twig, nor is he an uncoordinated mass of arms and legs. Maluach will need his time to develop, but I see him as a potential star for the Hornets, complimentary to Mark Williams, not a replacement for him.

If the Spurs are seriously considering drafting him maybe we can trade up for Harper at #2?
