This. Classic mid to late 2nd round pick that you hope can defy the odds and become a decent NBA contributor. There is absolutely no reason to take this guy in the first round, not with Wolf, Sorber, Raynaud, Beringer, Kalkbrenner as superior center prospects who should be available in the 20's.

Yang is much better than all of them

I get it, man. You've been driving the Yang hype train on here for years now. Too late for you to change course now. That's not how Real GM works.

He may wind up better than some of those guys, of course. But "much better" is just false.

He should have went to the NBL this past season, that would have helped define his draft stock some. However, him playing in the Chinese League makes trying to do an evaluation for him nearly impossible.

This is Bol Bol type of vibes, could be great and there will people convinced he is a top 10 player in the draft before it is over.

Hard to say investing a top 40 pick in a 7 footer is ever really bad though, so few good ones around it is pretty easy to hang on rosters for a decade which is a huge win in the 2nd.

we'll see. why would I change course when he's looking in better shape which was one of his major concerns and he signed with Klutch? Believe me, if he shows up (if he even goes) to the combine and doesn't look special I'll change my opinion. I'm not married to takes if new information comes in.

Have you guys seen this pic? He went from pudgey looking last year to this?

That is great physique for a true 7 footer (7'1" or 7'2" WITHOUT shoes).

Seeing his abes indicates fairly low body fat %.

Wow...that's the physique and proportions of a 5'8 guy. I've read that his defense is years away...but I haven't actually seen footage. Somebody will certainly take a swing.

His body fat in that pic looks around 12-13%. It's actually much easier to be leaner at that height.

It's absolutely harder to get into good physique being taller.

NBA players are mostly ectomorphs. They are naturally tall and lean. This isn't rocket science.

Losing weight is also harder for taller people. There is no universe where it's easier for taller to do anything athletic aside from reaching high solely due to size.

The bags of lards we have in the league at 7 feet or greater is ubiquitous or else all NBA centers would be paragons of fitness.

You are clueless. It's way harder the taller you are to put on weight as an athlete. If it was easy you wouldn't have the Chets, KD's. Jokic is the exception not the rule. Most NBA players struggle to put on weight not to lose it.

And it's hilarious because even the ones you say are "tubs of lard" in the real world would be considered physically fit, the fittest guy in the gym.

You are absolutely the clueless one here. I made a comment about weight loss; you decided to flip this into a weight gain exercise.

Bro, losing weight is not the problem for most tall NBA players. You know it, I know it. We all know this. The "fat" players stand out because they are the outliers. But feel free to keep your head up your ass.

As expected from the worst poster on these forum, resorting to insult when losing an argument.

freezing cold take. He showed great passing, ran the floor well, low post moves, boxed out well and his stroke from three and a the FT line looks great. The first scrimmage didn't showcase bigs as little guards were all trying to prove they belonged. Yang had one of the better performances of the entire scrimmage

I saw a guy just moving around looking lost on most possessions. I didn't see anything outside of the flashes of skill which his highlights already suggest.

Watching him play, he looked terrible. I am a possession by possession guy, I don't see it. Is he a 2nd rounder, for sure but I didn't see anything more long term than a backup 5 like Wang Zhizhi.

I liked the other centers more. They looked a lot more aware on both ends. This is a strong center class this year.

Same wingspan and standing reach as Jokic, more or less.
