I find it just a unique story in the Star Wars universe. It's a political drama built inside a universe that normally caters to kids and teens. It has at times relied on "cute puppets and space magic" as props. That may be dumbing it down to a degree but you get the idea. The stories in Andor are a adult stories that add shades of gray and complexity to that world. Episodes 9-12 on S1 were some of the best television I saw the year it came out. Episode 10 stands alone as one of the finest hours of storytelling and acting the Star Wars universe has ever produced. It gave what follows with Rogue One and the original trilogy a heart never before realized.

I need to start over and rewatch some of it. I think I was distracted when I started it and didn't pay full attention, and now the plot is a mystery to me by my own fault. And then because I've lost the plot, I think it's boring.

It’s been a little slow at times, but I’m really enjoying Season 2 too. Agree on the “adult” Star Wars point. It’s such an interesting idea to try and almost incorporate realism into it. Of course it makes perfect sense that an evil galactic empire needs more than a pair of all powerful Sith Lords to keep the boot heel in place, they need fascism, propaganda, bureaucrats, immigration police checking work visas etc. And prequels don’t always work, but having Episode 4 and Rogue One sitting there as an anchor for the whole show works really well, because you know what is at stake.

So good.

In Episode 10 "One Way Out" Andy Serkis turned in some of the finest acting in Star Wars history. And then cap it off with that speech from Skarsgaard which in 60 seconds gave you....like, everything. Like gave you ALL of Star Wars. Just incredible work.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

In the lasrt week I've seen Sinners, The Accountant2 and Thunderbolts and right now I'm riding a wave of really good filmmaking. With this entry, the MCU is back to telling really good stories and highlighting the connections you want to find in the greater universe and story that's building. Really good effort. The Accountant2 wasn't as good as the original. It explored the back story of the brothers well but I think it sacrificed the current story in the course of doing so. Not great but it was fine.

Sinners may just be the finest work I've seen since Dune 2. An absolutely exceptional work of film that was marketed extremely well, The music was exceptional and was treated like a character in the story. You think you know what it's about but there's so much more nuance. Layers in fact. Well worth it in IMAX if you got the chance.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

I just discovered this, and it's immediately become one of my favorite dance numbers. It's fun, upbeat, sexy, and so on.

It is of course much less sales-y than similar numbers that incorporate words. :D

It's also message-y in other ways, but very subtly.

Good stuff. Very good stuff.

The lead dancer is the most recent woman to win an Oscar for playing Anita in West Side Story. I think it was her second year hosting the Tonys. They did the all-dance thing because there recently had been a writer's strike.

The one tune I recognized was Lullaby of Broadway.

Ok. TY.
I have no idea because I barely watch award shows - except occasional Oscar shows when there are movies or actors/actresses nominated that I thought were really special. Just rewatched The Departed yet again - Academy Award winner w ‘Jack’, Leo, Damon, Wahlberg & others - unbelievably awesome movie.

The 6 songs I posted (all pre-2000 except for Despacito) reflect a sampling of my diverse musical tastes. I am sure you know them. Loved all of them.

For sure. I was rewatching bits of the last six episodes with my wife as she had been overseas and had only watched the first three. Knowing what was happening plot wise meant I was paying a bit more attention to other stuff the second time. The overall quality of this show is what I find most impressive, it is pretty stark how much better the writing and acting is in this show compared to most Star Wars shows, particularly Kenobi, The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew (and probably the second half of the Mandalorian series to be honest).

I really want to watch Rogue One and A New Hope again as I haven't seen either of them for a number of years, but I am fighting off the temptation until I finish Andor.

Okay, just finished the last 3 and JFC. If Andor isn't the best Star Wars content since Rogue One and the finest product Disney+ has EVER released, I don't know man. Perfectly connected the bridge to Rogue One while tying up multiple arcs while leaving open the ones they should have. Well-written and beautifully acted. And the final scene...just ripped my heart into a thousand million pieces. Gilroy somehow managed to make Rogue One even more impactful. It somehow made the original trilogy made almost 50 years ago, even better films. Take a boy Tony Gilroy. Take a bow Kathleen Kennedy. I don't know if Stellan Skarsgaard has ever been better in his career.

Yep, agree on everything you have said. Final three episode arc was brilliant, they really stuck the landing for what they built in the first 9 episodes.
The acting, the script/writing, the set design, the blending of the digital and location shooting etc was just noticeably better. And another big yes to the final scene, another nice touch in the context of what happens in Rogue One. I only watched a handful of episodes of the Clone Wars when my kids were little, and haven't seen any of Rebels, or read any of the books, but from what I understand from little bits and pieces I have seen and read regarding Andor, they also were able to write something very original that still connected into the existing lore as well?

I didn't get around to watching Season 1 again before Season 2 began (which I was planning on doing), but now I really, really want to go back and watch it again. And then I'll probably watch Season 2 again. And Rogue One again.

Spoiler:
As Episode 12 was unfolding and I started to realise there wasn't going to be some sort of big set piece/climax/finish, I began to have a tiny tinge of disappointment creeping in. But I quickly moved on from that as it became obvious how well they were connecting the end of this series directly into basically the first scenes of Rogue One.

Any Letterkenny fans? I’ve only just started watching it for the first time (first two seasons) but I am thoroughly enjoying it, even though there is a lot of Canadian jokes and references I don’t understand.

So I liked the premiere of Murderbot quite a bit. Sci-fi comedy.

First episode of Duster on Max surpassed my expectations. Solid plot and good action.

Been enjoying all three of these Apple shows: Your Fiends and Neighbors with Jon Hamm, The Studio (a comedy about movie execs), and Government Cheese (although the last one lost steam after a good start imo, and I still have no idea why its called Government Cheese).

Mobland on showtime is excellent.

Bad Thoughts on Netflix lol. Comedian Tom Segura in a series of shorts that are extremely off-color to put it nicely. It was uneven for me, but parts were hilarious and memorable. Personally I'm into the dark humor more than the potty humor, and the sex stuff was hit or miss for me. But worth a watch if you are not easily offended and sure to be a conversation starter lol.
Gonna miss KP but he's no Georges Niang.

If you have not looked into "You" on Netflix, the final season was nuts and perhaps the best. Super dark comedy/drama, which not sure if it's supposed to be funny or if it's mine and my wife's sense of humor.
