Not cashing in Dame at the deadline killed us. It was so obvious

I think cashing in on Brook was a more obvious and bigger miss. Eating 35% of the cap on a player you can’t play or trade kills us now but countless ppl on this board alone knew months ago that Brook was going to be useless in 6 of the possible 8 matchups in the playoffs. Not trading him for a playable wing ended up being the most detrimental thing for the season. Dame was good all season before the blood clots regardless of all the analytics you’re gonna throw at me. He wasn’t the problem.

I don't think we would have gotten much for Brook, but it would have been great to deal both.

Its time for Brook to go, dude is just not a winning player for us in pivotal moments. If i never have to watch another 35ft Brook 3 attempt 5 seconds into the shot clock ill be happy.

You obviously know the point of it, if we're going to continue in this direction (which is not my ideal plan). So that's an emotional critique.

He'd have provided as much on court impact (none) as a few of the bottom roster spots this past yr.

we need a couple shooters that can defend(aj and gtj)...a couple guards that can get to the paint and compete maybe shoot some(kpj and rollins)...... bigs that can move and switch(sims...portis and kuz are marginal)

and thats it. thats all.

we already have guys like this. its mostly done.

we need to move the guys that dont check these boxes. bring a couple more in that fit this mold.

do it within budget. maybe dump dame...maybe move him later.

that needs to be the offseason if giannis stays.

You really don’t think so? He was a decent expiring with some usage for good matchups it just turned out he was useless for us. I would’ve thought he had positive value at the deadline and if so we should’ve 100% cashed in but maybe you’re right.

Who could we do a sign and trade with for Bobby or Brook? If Bobby wants to stay for a slight raise I’m willing to keep him and give him the starting 5 spot.

I think it has to be Thanasis. It's not a talent thing and it never has been.

The highs of the Brook experience have been **** awesome. The lows have been detrimental. I would have him back, but he's going to get decent money elsewhere. Regular season floor raiser, playoff basement digger. Such a fun guy, great teammate, but yeah... it's probably time to move on.

I see some people wanting to trade for Reaves and I would not mind that but the Raptors need to cut salary with Ingram and Barnes extention coming in so I would see if the '31 could get R.J. They have Gradey Dick and Agbaji at the shooting guard spots so Barrett seems like the odd man out. While he is an up and down shooter he has the size and playmaking the Bucks need on the wing. I'm not sure if it can work but if they can send Pat to a 3rd team in a "separate" deal they could do a S&T with Bobby to the Raptors for a slight raise. This would put the Raptors under the tax and give them a nice exception.

The next thing would be to go after combo bigs and wings like Guerschon Yabusele, Jake LaRavia, Amir Coffey, Dalano Banton, Thomas Bryant, or Precious. I'd also look into trading a second for Huff or even G.G. Jackson if they extend Aldama. Jaren Jackson is up for an extension so maybe they will give up on G.G. since he is also a 4.

My offseason dream would be

Porter Jr/Rollins
Trent Jr/ Green
R.J. Barret/ LaRavia
Giannis/Kuzma
Sims/Yabusele/Huff

Side note: I think if the Bucks can do the S&T deal with the Patty C. side trade, they could add Livingston with Pat to create enough of a TPE to absorb Isaac Okoro from the cavs for a pick.

Step 1 - Retaining the goods

TRENT - Resign 4y/55. I don’t believe full MLE is needed, Horst can save a small portion for a future signing. Find a gem with the two-ways and convert him after the deadline into a Pippen Jr contract.

PORTER - Resign 2y/10,5mil/PO. I don’t believe there is a starting job elsewhere for KPJ. The BAE should be enough as a prove it deal with a promise that he will be taken care of next season with Early Bird rights.

GREEN - Resign 4y/40mil. Having just a 2,3 mil TO now it’s the perfect time to lowball green and lock him on a multiyear contract.

ROLLINS - Resign 4y/20mil. That’s gonna be a bargain contract.

BOBBY - Opt in and extend 2/30. You still need his buckets from the bench. Can’t lose Brook and Bobby in the same time.

Step 2 - Avoiding the tax

PAT - Talk him into opting out his 9,4 mil and instead take a 3y/min. With his 10+ experience that’s a 3/12 in real money for Connaughton. Bucks get the cap savings and keep Pat as a culture 15th guy which I wouldn’t mind for the years to come.

KUZMA - That’s probably a deadline move. Bucks should play him in the first half of the season to restock his market and then sell him for any cheaper/shorter deal that won’t cost them assets.

Step 3 - Minimum signings

Not having big expectations, but Horst pulls 1-2 good deals in FA every season. Bruce Brown is a player I’m watching that could fall in his hands with a Trent minimum special. Killian Hayes, Johny Davis are prospects I’m looking for the two-ways. You need to hit another Rollins too.

Unfortunately, I don't think vets can sign a minimum contract over 2 years so the Pat scenario is out of the question.

For those who know the Bucks cap situation. Would waiving and stretching Pat's contract free up the space needed to sign Kevin Porter Jr w/o dipping into any exception money? I think the Bucks would have an extra $6m of cap space if the stretch Pat. In a perfect Bucks world they could split the $6m on KPJ and LaRavia or Yabusele.

Bucks seem to have built a concrete relationship with Pat. I guess a promise that he will get a third year minimum contract is enough.

Stretching his salary won’t do much. It does open 6,3 mil but then you have to sign a vet to replace him which makes it 4 mil. Not good.

Youre right about one thing

Kuzma is here to stay for now. We are going to do anything and everything to make him a useful member of the team. And as much as that triggers a gag reflex for many of you, ive not given up on the vision of what he could be for us. Full off-season with his role laid out for him. Full support of the team. Just do the things youre good at and nothing else. This can still work.

If Thanasis on the roster keeps Giannis happy then you sign Thanasis simple as that, it was noticeable when he was at the games last season so it’s not a totally wasted roster spot
