Cool. The Bucks will send him to whichever team gives the best package.

Dame wanted to go to Miami, Jimmy wanted Phoenix. The one time a star anywhere near Giannis' caliber (AD in 2019) was dealt to the one team they wanted to go to, the Pelicans still got a historic haul out of it. This idea that "the Bucks don't have leverage and Giannis is gonna dictate everything" is nothing but wish-casting by smug fans and media types who are trying to gaslight Bucks fans into just accepting whatever **** sandwich asset platter that they fart out with their fantasy trade proposals. Worry about Horst being bent over a barrel in trade negotiations? Absolutely, but in the event of a Giannis trade, they'll have plenty of options. I'm not worried about that at all.

Assuming Chet makes a couple in the near future, the current championship favorite is basically the "3 All-Star" model surrounded by good role-players. We won a championship with 3 All-Stars (Giannis, Khris, Jrue). At the end of the day, talent is still the biggest indicator of sustained championship contention.

Like, we're basically trying to convince ourselves that the "2023 Miami Heat" model is this thing we should be building towards but that's honestly such a weird/low-bar goal when you have a guy like Giannis (why not the '94 Rockets?). I think the question you need to be asking is, is it more likely you can find another legit All-Star caliber dude and good role-players to pair with Giannis within these next 2-3 years, or is it more likely you're gonna find 2-3 franchise cornerstone guys from the assets you get in a trade the next 4-5 years?

Maybe I'm just a bitter old man at this point, but how do you define "legit all-star caliber"? I have doubts Jrue or Midds would have been an all-star (excluding Jrue's ten years earlier) if they weren't the designated 2nd all-star on the team with the best record. I'm not sure how I would look this up to verify it, but I would think all 4 of their Bucks all-star appearances were as one of the last 2 guys in and neither sniffed an all-NBA team. So if those are "legit all-star caliber players" I there is a small chance of finding someone that shines as a #2 off Giannis and puts up big stats in a hot start for an all-star season.

But like you said, we would need to hit on that and 3 other decent role players to be contenders. It could also be entertaining watching the Bucks/Giannis reinvent themselves as a team with a chip on their shoulder. Could have been a better version of the 2009-10 FTD team with AJ Johnson shooting 20% but Giannis getting the put back jams :D

If Giannis only had 1 season left on his deal (or even 1.5 if he'd demand out at the deadline) it'd be more believable he'd pout for a prolonged period of time much less refuse to play.

So far I think Jim Owczarski, Kyle Korver and Bobby Portis are all on record saying they expect Giannis to be back in Milwaukee next season.

Who’s on record saying he’ll be somewhere else? Espn? Is that it?

Has Haynes or anyone actually close to Giannis said anything?

I'd rather try and catch lightning in a bottle with trying to find a mid level All star type with our limited resources the next 3-5 years and filling in the rest of the roster than hoping to win the perverbial lottery again by finding another player in the same stratosphere as Giannis AND hoping to to get lucky drafting another mid level Allstar or two with the extra mid level picks we'd have in a giannis trade (although with more swings at the plate) within the next 6-7 years

Kinda suprised people think the latter is more likely actually

If Giannis asks out sure. Only one option left. If not you clear the decks and build the best you can the next couple years and all it takes is one good decision to be back in business

I definitely would like Atlanta’s unrestricted picks that are owned by the Spurs. The unrestricted 2027 and the right to swap next year.

Spurs do have a mighty tasty war chest, very appealing.

Pure, unadulterated Big Basketball Media trying to will a Giannis trade out of thin air. You can add Bobby to the list saying Giannis bleeds green and wants the Kobe/Duncan/Steph career arc.

This is one of those stories that won't go away unless the man himself quashes it.

Giannis will just show up to media day like nothing happened haha. "Was going nowhere, guys." With a big green on his face.

Bingo. The other teams picks the Spurs have are much better than the picks OKC has. So are the Rockets.

If Giannis asks out or won’t extend, Spurs (Castle/#2/other picks) or Rockets (Amen/#10/Suns picks) can easily put together the best offers if they want to unless the Mavs are putting Flagg out there. I can’t find anything close.

Like he does literally every year.

They’ll ask if he said he was open to a trade. He’ll say if the team doesn’t want me here, sure, but I want to be here.

ESPN will write articles about how Giannis could be traded if Bucks don’t win.

Rinse and repeat.

The problem is that very few teams which A. Have the ammo for Giannis and B. Will have enough left afterwards for it to be worth it. I think Houston suffers from factor B.

Spurs and Okc have the benefit of a top 5 player (projected) to pair with Giannis, so anything else after the trade is gravy.

Until any of these rumors cite sources beyond speculation, or belief it's just click bait for me. The media for years has tried to force Giannis out of Milwaukee, no surprise. I understand now more than ever the timing and direction suggests anything is possible. Until we hear he really does want out, I don't foresee any scenario we trade him.

Spurs - I want Vassell, Castle, probably take Kedon Johnson as the players in the package. 2 and 14 would have to come as well as 2/3 of their best future projected firsts.

Rockets - Have to get Seguin and Amen for sure. Also would like Jalen Green and Sheppard. If you can get those four and some top picks, I take that offer.

Finally listened to that podcast with Chris Mannix that was going around...he literally said it would be front office malpractice for us to keep Giannis lol

Yes, malpractice to roll with arguably the best player alive and most dominant player in the Association in his prime. What a joke.

This is where I’m at. I just don’t believe any of these click bait stories. They come around every time Giannis has a decision to make. I’m now seeing articles about Giannis being open to playing for teams in states with no state income tax. This was a story being circulated last time he was unclear about signing an extension. I just think that some guys are trying to generate headlines and clicks and have no real insight.
