As a long time Thibs defender and supporter, I gotta say that I'm probably out on him if we lose game 6, guys.

It's a must win.

The cats been out of the bag for a while on Thibs this season. The FO gave him a brand new Ferrari with all the options and he's still driving around his 90s Honda Civic with a few added mods. Dudes never gonna change so the Knicks must make the change.

Kat was asked why isn't he shooting more threes.............."IT'S NOT IN THE GAME PLAN".

So Thibs is using him as a 50 million dollar floor spacer so his favorite player Josh Hart can stay on the floor to run around and ****.

Thibs, why did you leave the starters in there so long? "I was searching".

Searching. *Deep breath*

Fun fact-the starters have been a negative this whole series. The only lineup that's been a positive is any combination with Mitch and Duece with the non Josh starters. And this organization has one of the most advanced analytics team in the league.

Like Kat said, these are coaching decisions. If he's fired, it's because the top brass have come to him, shown him what's missing, and he still refuses to budge, because I don't want to believe that nobody else sees how this coach is utilizing this roster that they have created.

I will put ANYTHING on the line and bet that just putting in Delon Wright, somebody who can look at a 7 foot lumbering old center in the eye and take him to the rack, in place of Josh would unlock this team to another level. Giannis lmao. We don't need trades, we need to put the square pegs in square holes, not the round ones.

Looking forward to Dikembe Kornet manning the paint freely next game.

It's wild to me how many of you all I see that are considering not even watching Game 7 at all if we lose tomorrow

Most of my 20 years spent on here have been in support of losing squads, some of which have been enjoyable

I rather watch this team lose this series in heartbreaking fashion than continue trying to make the best out of 29-39 win teams, because that would be easy

I'm done with easy

Breakthrough in Boston: Knicks Roll, 121-114

By Sam Goldaper

May 7, 1990

Patrick Ewing beat the double team with his passing. Charles Oakley got every big rebound. Maurice Cheeks ran the show for the entire 48 minutes. Trent Tucker hit the open jumpers and Johnny Newman penetrated to the basket and gave up the ball.

In a noisy, steamy dressing room today the Knicks celebrated the stirring comeback that had ended with a 121-114 victory over the Celtics that stopped their losing streak in Boston Garden at 26 games and put New York in Tuesday night's opening game of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Detroit Pistons in Auburn Hills, Mich.

Eight days ago, the Knicks were given up for dead after the Celtics drubbed them by 157-128 to take a 2-0 lead in their playoff series.

Only two other National Basketball Association teams - the Fort Wayne Pistons in 1956, and the Golden State Warriors in 1987 - had ever rallied from 0-2 deficits to win a three-of-five- game playoff series.

'It was humilation at its worst,'' said Stu Jackson, the Knick coach, said about the beating his team took here eight days ago. ''It left us beaten morally and mentally, not only after the game but in our first practice after it. Nobody wanted to be there, myself included.''

Jackson credited the start of the Knicks' ''growing up'' with last Tuesday's practice, the first after the rout.

''It was so intense that I had to shorten practice for fear someone would get injured,'' said Jackson.

The newly intense Knicks went on to scratch out a victory in Madison Square Garden Tuesday night and then even the series with a convincing beating of the Celtics on Friday night. But then it was on to Boston for the deciding game in this ancient building where the Knicks had last won on Feb. 29, 1984, and against a team that had a 20-6 record in playoff-deciding games.

'It had to end sometimes,'' said a smiling Cheeks, who missed only twice in 10 attempts from the field, scored 21 points and had 7 assists. ''I'm glad it ended this way.''
His coach had more to say about his playmaker, who missed only 10 of the possible 144 minutes during the three victories.

''Cheeks played big,'' said Jackson. ''I guess it's true what they say that he's one of the better playoff players around.''

The 33-year-old Cheeks, whom the Knicks obtained for Rod Strickland in February, was at his best in the final minutes of third period when the Knicks turned a 7-point Celtics' advantage to a 4-point Knicks' lead going into the last quarter. During that surge, Cheeks scored 11 points on a 21-foot junper, three layups, two of them driving, and three free throws.

The Knicks' coach called that stage of the game the ''moment of truth.''

The Celtics, who led by 9 points twice in the opening quarter, never led after Gerald Wilkins put the Knicks ahead, 80-79, on a slam dunk with 2 minutes 38 seconds remaining in the third period.

The best the Celtics did thereafter was tie the game at 87-87 on a Larry Bird jumper with 11:11 remaining.
Once Tucker untied the game with 10:53 remaining with his second 3-pointer of the game, the Knicks, who made 11 of their 16 shots in the last quarter, ran away from the Celtics, who seemed to fall apart after Bird missed a reverse dunk. Ewing, who finished with 31 points, 8 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists, put the Knicks ahead by 12 points, their biggest lead of the game, on a 3-pointer with 2:02 left.

Intelligent Game

''I thought Patrick played one of the more intelligent games I've seen him play as far as picking his spots as when to take the ball to the rim and when to pass it out,'' said Jackson. ''He seemed to find everybody at every different position.''

Ewing, who had scored 33 and 44 points in the Knicks' first two victories, was the Celtics' chief target today. They began by double-teaming and ended up surrounding him with three and four men. Oakley became the chief beneficiary of the Boston pressure on Ewing as the Knick center kept getting the ball to the cutting Oakley, who ended up with a career-playoff high of 26 points. He also grabbed 17 rebounds to give the Knicks a third straight edge in that department.

Like a Happy Schoolboy

Ewing was much like a happy schoolboy after the game.

At first, he stood outside the Knicks' dressing room congratulating his teammates and coaches as they entered the room. Once inside, he said, ''It's destiny.''

''I told my friends, family and my son that it would come,'' he said. ''But it would not have happened without Oak. He made it happen, more so than any of us with his rebounding. Nothing got by him today. He washed the backboards clean. It seemed down the stretch that we got every rebound. That's why we won. It sure feels good.''
But there was also the unsung hero in Kenny Walker, who played only four minutes.

Not only was he the bench cheerleader, but at every time out Walker would stand over Ewing, his best friend on the team, tell him how well he has been doing and urge him on.

Gerald Wilkins, who had 12 points in his 27 minutes, had a double reason to be happy.

He arrived in Boston a 8:30 this morning after spending the night in Chattanooga, Tenn., with his wife, Vita, who gave birth to their first child, a 7-pound daughter, Jasmyn Alexandria.

''When she grows up,'' said Wilkins, ''I'm going to tell her she was born on the day when we beat the Celtics, something neither I, nor my teammates could accomplish in six years and it came during the all-important playoffs.''

'Monumental Lift'

Tucker, the only player still around from the last time the Knicks won here, called it ''a monumental lift.''

The lift, according to Jackson and his coaching staff, began in Game 3 when Oakley, in his first starting role since he suffered a broken bone in his left hand on March 20, switched defensive assignments with Ewing. Oakley took over guarding Robert Parish, the Celtics' 7-1 center, and Ewing was matched against Kevin McHale.

Ewing's height and long arms bothered McHale and the powerfully built Oakley was able to push Parish off the block.

I agree because the whistles in Boston were so egregious they have to close this out in NYC to win the series.
