Re: Bos/mavs/nets
I dont have Jrue worth nearly this much. If Gafford and Washington were end of the bench player expiring contracts, i'd still say its too much. Jrue is a clear negative on his contract and i would think both Gafford and Washington have some kind of 1st round pick value

Re: Bos/mavs/nets
The rationale of two words get jrue shows why its not reasonable for Dallas. Gaff and PJ are two solid, crucial role players. Neither are bad contracts, which Jrue now is along with his defense being almost irrelevant nowadays. Dallas shoudlnt touch this
There's no Jrue to Dallas deal without Klay also going out

Brooklyn declines. Our capspace might go for Porzingis, but I'm not a fan of adding that much filler salary, even for just 1 season. And we don't add any youth assets.

Re: Bos/mavs/nets
Jrue to Dallas is tricky a bit because they would still need an offensive guard and now there is less financial wiggle room. Then we get to value and he's not worth Washington and Gafford and an expiring.
Dallas would probably give Boston one of them, but insist on Klay being in the deal. Boston could probably use 28 to trade him for something cheaper/expiring, but that would have to be the framework on the Dallas end.
And they might not be interested at all because of the length/$$ of the deal.
I really like the player, but the deal has to make financial sense for Dallas and I have both PJ and Gafford as having more trade value especially PJ.

I'm fine with PJ and Klay for BOS. Would Cam Thomas S&T make any sense?
BOS: PJ, Klay for Jrue
DAL: Jrue, Cam Thomas for PJ, Klay, Powell, ?
BKN: Powell, ? for S&T Cam Thomas
It works if you value / sign Cam into the Kleber TPE. I honestly don't know if I'd do that as DAL and cap yourself and if you would what's a fair salary and cost. Just throwing out a possibility for all sides to shoot down.

Re: Bos/mavs/nets
Can't see Thomas signing at a number Dallas could afford to do a s&T with the aprons. I think Coby White would become my primary target if the Mavs added Jrue. He's really cheap next year. Now he'd probably be just a rental unless he had a great year and Vegas was willing to spend big for a contender after the whole Luka mess, but reports are the Mavs took in the shorts financially this year so IDK. But depending on the cost I'd be willing to just rent him.
But Jrue is one of my 5 favorite dudes in the league. So having him be a Mav would make me happy as a fan. Just not sure if Dallas can quite make it work money wise.

Brooklyn isn’t trading Cam Thomas.

Change Jrue to White, than DAL can talk.

Dallas isn't offering anything close to a package worth White here. Counters need to be realistic.

Jrue to Dallas
Kristaps to Orlando
Cole Anthony and Tillman to Brooklyn
Gafford, Christie, Marshall and Isaac to Boston
Dallas get Jrue
Orlando gets a unicorn front court scorer for a player who is unneeded (COle) and a different often injured player (isaac)
Brooklyn gets a point guard on a short deal.
Celtics get a center and some pieces that can bolster depth and maybe fill in when tatum is out.

Then no deal, Jrue is not the solution to DAL, after his clear fall off on the performance in playoff

Thompson, Gafford, Prosper is the most I would give for Jrue.

Who is paying Brooklyn and Dallas?
Don’t think the base is unrealistic at all. But value is owed at least IMO.
I think Orlando doesn’t want to push that far over the tax though.. I guess they could dump WCJ and KCP later. But just feels like those two would be be somewhat involved in a KP to Orlando deal.

They only add about a million (orlando) and I assume some sort of pick compensation would need to float around

The issue is they should want to trim about 10m to stay under the tax at least one more year before Paolo gets paid. And they need to get a guard that can somewhat run an offense or all the hard work doesn’t matter.
Like I said, they could do this and then look to trim salary/add PG using WCJ and KCP. Same result really.
And if Dallas is getting paid fairly for letting Boston take 3 good roleplayers (2 on really good contracts) then yeah. Dallas can then look to find the offensive piece they need and it’ll all maybe work out okay.
But without the value back to Dallas, this just feels like a pretty high valuation of Jrue at this point in his career..

Well, you’re trying to force Jrue to Dallas and his contract causes more issues than he solves.
I think you’re overvaluing him.
They’d be better off working with another team

I'm not forcing anything. And totally fine if Jrue isn't for you.
But Dallas can't get White for Jrue prices. My whole point.

Yeah. White has a ton of positive value in my book. I think he says with the Celtics unless there is a really strong offer.
