Purdy was making peanuts prior to this deal. When you give out this amount, it shrinks the pie (cap) pretty significantly. There's now less $$ available to fill out that roster. We see it all the time when teams give QB's these big contracts. It limits what you can do going forward.

SF had one of the better rosters in the league. Purdy & his rookie contract we're a big part of that. But now that he's paid, it changes things dramatically. They will have to rely more on the draft & players on rookie contracts. Fewer impact guys with bigger salaries.

I think Garappolo was paid more compared to league average when they signed him and went on to have great run with him on the books, they've done it before.

Rookie qb contracts are the best tool in NFL but unfortunately they dont last forever.

Dak’s is still pretty bad.

Dak's deal is egregious.

But paying Purdy that much is not great for a team that expects to compete. It puts them in purgatory.
