Mavs/Bulls/Lakers

Post#1 » by Cowdog » Sat May 17, 2025 12:18 am

Mavs get Coby White
Lakers get Daniel Gifford
Bulls get ‘31 FRP (from Lakers), ‘31 FRP (from Mavs), and Maxi Kleber (expiring)

Mavs get their hall handler, Lakers get Luka’s center, and Bulls get 2 firsts and expiring. Swap for different FRPs if you think it’s necessary.

UPDATE: Swapped Lakers '26 FRP for Lakers '31 FRP. Thought Lakers could do former on draft night, but I think I'm wrong.

Don't know what the Bulls are going to do with the draft rights to some kids who aren't even in high school yet.

Chicago is never never turning down two unprotected firsts for one year of Coby White. Of course Dallas isn't paying Gafford and one unprotected first for him and the Lakers definitely aren't paying an unprotected first for Gafford.

Get some reasonable protections on those picks and we can talk about this.

Ridiculous overpay by Dallas and LA. White doesn't have anywhere near this value

Help me with them, and I'll add. Top 5? Top 10?

Every reputable podcast I've listened to says Gafford alone isn't enough value for White, and Bulls don't need him. If you think one FRP would do it, then how about this?

White to Dallas
Gafford to LA
Maxi and FRP (T5P) to Bulls

I really like Coby, but he doesn't yield a return like this.

I do not see the Bulls trading anybody for 2 pair of picks SIX years down the road. Karnisovas will be long gone by then. Either of those picks could be 1-8 or 22-30, heck expansion 22-32

this would be acceptable if the Bulls had anyone even appearing to be heir apparent SG to their leading scorer but I doubt the see Kevin Huereter becoming a 22 ppg scorer. Understand that from one year ago the Bulls moved on from Demar DeRozan then Zach Lavine, trading White for the distant future would mean that in 3 straight trading periods the Bull traded their leading scorer THREE times. That would be insane

Gafford/Washington to BULLS
White/J.Smith to MAVS

Are both teams a better fit? The Bulls get a PnR center for Giddey(Which would also be his best rim protector) and a starting-caliber forward to play alongside Buzelis.

The Mavs get the scoring guard they need and a center who can theoretically stretch the floor.
