He used Ainge stockpile my guy. Are you ok?
It depends what you consider “stockpile” and when you stop calling vets a “stockpile”. The Ainge draft “stockpile” was already used on Kyrie Tatum and Brown unless you’re going to sit here and say that Kemba was an asset. Romeo was a jag at the time and looked to be close to being out of the league, Nesmith was another guy who had zero value and was essentially a throw in to Indy for Brogdon. Marcus and Timelord were extremely overrated. So if you are referring to stockpile as veteran players already in Boston then yeah he traded guys that Ainge drafted that weren’t good enough. That’s what a GM is supposed to do.
Can’t believe we are at the stage where we’re questioning Brad’s GM abilities.
Got us Derrick White for a pile of nothing basically.
Had the balls to move on Smart when another GM could have talked himself after that Miami series into thinking we just need a little bit more luck.
Got us Holiday.
Got us a title.
And trading Smart took massive balls. He was the most popular Celtic since Pierce/KG maybe even Bird. That deal was blasted by the fan base. People wanted to give him a ring last year. Plus if he stays who knows if Derrick White is the same player same with JB and Tatum since the team always deferred to Marcus Smart in crunch time to shoot one of his 80 3’s.
Trading Timelord and Brogdon to get Jrue was a chess move that worked.
Derrick White - by far his best move. Not even the biggest Celtics downer on this board can argue this.
