Washington - Dallas - Denver

Post#1 » by Godaddycurse » Fri May 16, 2025 11:20 pm

Denver out: MPJ, Tyson
Denver in: Martin, Kispert, Klay

Dallas out: Klay, Martin, Hardy
Dallas in: Poole

Washington out: Poole, Kispert
Washington in: Hardy, MPJ, Tyson

Why for Denver: Break MPJ into multiple role players/better depth
Why for Dallas: add a PG for their spare parts
Why for Washington: get the best player in the trade and hand the reins to Carrington

Add 2nds as needed. Dallas need to dump a bit of salary elsewhere too

Like it for Denver.
It's one of those fine options for Dallas.
Not sure about this for Washington. If Porter's deal ends before Poole great, otherwise I have them as the team needing the 2nds you mention.

Horrendous for Washington. They want to give the vast majority of their wing minutes to Bilal and George. They have zero use for MPJ. Poole has been a very good mentor to the young guys and fills a huge hole as a creative scorer who isn't blocking anyone at SG while allowing the young guys to grow. MPJ has injury issues and can't create on his own. Every trade the new FO has made for the Wizards has been for the aim of acquiring future picks. This trade does not fit with that philosophy.

I'm a DC fan still mad about the lottery results. Would like to see Cooper Flagg added to this trade.

Kispert in Denver makes sense. Dallas likes old, injured guys so maybe they'd like Middleton.
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?

None of this feels particularly constructive.

This is true, but it helped ease my lottery pain for a moment.

On the proposed trade itself, I don't think the incentive is there to swap out Poole for MPJ. Wiz have a handful of young forwards that need minutes. I do like the idea of Kispert in Denver though. Would they trade Daron Holmes for him? Would Denver to add salary filler.

This is really, really, really bad for Denver.

In this trade they get:

1. Klay Thompson, player that should have retired last season. He is on 2y $34M contract. Would have been Nuggets 5 highest payed player. He was Mavs offseason big signing last year. If he was good why would they trade him? If he is bad why would Nuggets trade for him?

2. Caleb Martin, unplayable player on 3y $30M contract. Would have been Nuggets 7th highest paid player. Made name for himself in Heat, but they didn't want to resign him for money he got from 76ers. After 76 signed him, and saw him they traded him to Dallas. Heat/76ers/Dallas didn't want him, why would Nuggets?

3. Corey Kispert, backup for Wizards on 4y $54M contract.

No, thanks

But they get out of the MPJ-sized noose.

And why would they do that? He is playing with one hand and OKC is still not leaving him open to shoot, because they know something obviously. When healthy he is good 3rd option. He is overpaid on 2y contract. Players Nuggets get are worst contracts than Zake Nnaji. They are useless.
You saw what MPJ did to your Lakers last year in the playoffs. Which one of these players could do that?

MPJ was not a concern for the Lakers. Murray is. Jokic is. Gordon is the glue guy. I'd be shipping off MPJ of I were the Nuggets, it's the best path to a decent bench unit.

In 2023-24 playoffs vs Lakers he averaged 22.8/8.4/1.2, shooting 55%/49%/77%. He is one of the reasons Murray/Jokic 2 man games works, no one leaves him open. He is overpaid $10M, but on 2y contract.

Who would start as SF of this players in place of MPJ?

Nuggets with this team and bench, with MPJ with one hand are 1 game away from beating 68 win team and advancing to WCF.
Their problem were not players it was coach all the time.

Looking more like my trade AD wish won't be reality.

Ugh I watch a lot of Wizards and Poole is such trash. But the trioof Dallasguys are even more garbage, so I'd suppose Dallas has to do it if it was the only option to cover for ky until he returns
