Lakers/Pistons/Blazers
Trade 1
LAKERS
In:Ayton
Out: Hachimura/Maxi/Milton
These playoffs are teaching us that you now need a big guy to be competitive. Ayton is in a contract year. He could be a very valuable piece. He's on the same timeline as Luka and has the ideal skill set to play alongside Luka. Worst case scenario, he's expiring and the price would be affordable for the Lakers.
PISTONS
In: Hachimura
Out: Fontecchio/37+Future SRP
Detroit is getting a big, young, starting-caliber wing who fits stylistically (very good shooter) for just a couple of SRP.
BLAZERS
In:Maxi/Milton/Fontecchio/37+Future SRP
Out:Ayton
The Blazers are getting rid of a player who I assume isn't in their long-term plans to make room for Clingan. They're saving 10 million and gaining a couple of minor assets in the process.

Overpay by LA, Hachimura > Ayton, befote factoring contracts.

Money doesn't work for Detroit. Sasser would need to be added and the 2nds would need to be removed.

Better to just let DA expire.

Re: Lakers/Pistons/Blazers
Someone should take a one year crack at Ayton, but this doesn't outbid "expire" for POR, imo.

I'd take it -- turning 3 or 4 third-stringers into a solid rotation player at a position of need is a very good return. I'd also prefer to have Hachimura instead of Fontecchio as trade filler for any TDL deals (both are expiring contracts)
I'm not hung up on the SRPs because they are mostly low value -- usually turn into a 3rd stringer if anything. Maybe swap out 37 for one of our (many) future SRPs.
In a no-win argument, the first poster to Let It Go will at least retain some peace of mind

If the players Portland receives are expiring, yes. If they are not, no.

Pretty much. All things considered, I'd take Hachimura alone over Ayton.

Maybe cut Detroit? The Lakers keep Rui and send Vincent/Maxi/Vandervilt+Knecht? Do the Blazers accept this?

No.
Would rather have DA expiring than junk on contracts not offset by Knecht.

Blazers don’t need to dump Ayton and will be happy to keep him long term on a better deal. People got the situation confused.

You'll have to excuse this poster he doesn't speak for the majority of the fans with this bizarre, mind crippling, clearly drug induced post. Our apologies.

Re: Lakers/Pistons/Blazers
I would do this if I was Detroit. My first choice would be to sign Naz Reid or Bobby Portis should one or the other opt out but Hachumura would be a nice consolation prize fitting the Pistons well and surely be in the rotation.

Re: Lakers/Pistons/Blazers
The only player I'm interested in from the Lakers is Knecht. If he's not included, I'm not interested. Unfortunately, about the only way to match salaries excluding Hachimura is to include Vanderbilt. While his contract is not that big, it's long and not something I'm interested in without compensation. Knecht is a nice player, but not enough to take on Vanderbilt.

I think he could be redirected to Vandervilt. He's only 26 years old, just turned 26, and he's an excellent defender. I think he'd fit in very well with the Bulls or the Kings, who are loaded with shooters and would benefit from his defense.

Only Shake is not expiring, but he is only owed $3.3M for an extra year and he’s not the worst backup we could get for that amount. I view the trade as saving money this year by turning Ayton ($35.5M) into Maxi ($11M), Shake ($3M), Fontecchio ($8.3M), which is $13.2M saved this year that gives us a bunch of flexibility for follow up moves including potential asset collection using our space, and then spending $3.3M the following season to have Shake and get 2 2nd rounders.

Re: Lakers/Pistons/Blazers
I'd do this from Detroit's end. Rui is a solid PF entering his prime on a reasonable deal (although expiring). He will be a great backup PF and could start in a pinch.
Fontecchio is dead weight. The second rounders will likely never amount to a rotation player.

I'd rather keep the nice big expiring then a small bad contract in milton and 2 seconds or a medium sized bad contract in vanderbilt
