I was seriously debating if I was going to watch my first Leafs game since Wendel Clark was still a Leaf. After all it's game 7. Decided not to and to just check the score after. Made the right choice lol

Marchand is one of the most hilarious trolls lol. Defending the leafs to their fans lol. He did this before too.

Took a quick peek at the summer free agent list. The irony is that the two best targets for the leafs this summer are probably eckblad and Bennett.

If you let warner walk....sign Tavares to a huge discount (pretty sure he'd be agreeable) and move him to the third line...sign Bennett as your second center and add ekblad to your top 4 D....that would be a good start and the money would work. Not sure how the Panthers cap is looking though. They might just resign all their guys.

I'd look to trade Nylander for a power forward with speed which shouldn't be that hard. Possibly trade Reilly for someone bigger/stronger.

FTFY hehe.

Nah, it would be better if it was a local embarrassment, maybe I should rephrase it and call it a laughingstock on the international scene.

The fans of the team are also largely to blame. Year in and out, they continue to fork out big money for tickets, merchandise, and continue with their delusions that "this year is different." Look no further than the first round against the Sens. One first round win, and you have fans celebrating like they just made it to the finals. This is the year they said. Get real. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Bettman needs to go. He's the common denominator in the failure.

One takeaway is how big an impact Tanev had. It only took 8 years for the leafs to realize that you need a high quality BIG defenseman. They didn't have one for decades. I am so sick of their love for skating/puckhandling defenseman. Sure you need that style of player but you need ppl who can win battles I'm front of your net and in your corners.

If you can pry Ekblad away from the Panthers....then you would always have one of ekblad or Tanev on the ice.

I pointed out earlier in this thread how improbable the leaf defenseman drought has been. The last top 10 d man they had was Borje Salming. 40 years ago smh. How does that happen?

And the only guys they've had that have been top 20 are puckhandling skater types like Reilly, kaberle, McCabe.

We are starving for a 6 foot 2, strong defenseman who is an Allstar level player. Like a victor Hedman or Chris pronger type guy. It's crazy to me that a franchise can go 40 years without that archetype. Most NHL teams have at least one at all times and we didn't have one for 40 years smh Look how impactful Seth Jones was during this series.

One of the best ever was Chara. Obviously that's a tall ask.....but the nhl was 10 to 15 guys that fit that archetype. It's not like that archetype is rare (like a stretch center in basketball). Just insane that for 40 years we didn't have one of the most common archetypes in the game.

anycase....tanev is a great start. We need another one. Maybe trade Nylander for a guy like that.

Man such a soft core. they played in their zone for most of the Playoffs. should have lost to Ottawa and saved themselves the embarrassment.

Im laughing at the 50-70 year olds venting on the fan 590. Someone dropped their cpap machine

Roger Lajoie is a 590 legend, I like it when they take these post game raptor/leaf calls. Bring back Stormin Normin Rumak with lajoie.

Maurice: "I thought we played well in the games we lost"

Translation - we outplayed the leafs in every game and they got lucky to win 3 of those games.

Since 2019, they only score 1 goal in game 7s. Listened to a lot of the post game stuff while working out, listening to post game scrums, and read all the commentary. This is where legacy media will generate a lot of content.

I wish it was a win, sad ending to a long weekend where I was really hoping for a win. Focusing on Jays now. Let's go blue jays

Losing him for nothing has got to hurt nonetheless.....

Just tweak the core. Replace Marner with someone (which is hard) and then move into next year. The team did look a lot better in years past. Losing to Florida is not a reason to panic. They are a very good team.

Omg, 6-1 at home again, Matthews and Marner lay one of their biggest game 7 eggs, Marchand dominates

Marner and Matthews continuing their tradition of never having scored a goal in a Game 7. At what point do the excuses stop? You cannot win with players like that. The TNT broadcast even called Marner out for trying to fire up the bench, while he himself was one of the most invisible forwards. IMO that little tirade was just for show for his next team.

Lorentz generated the most chances in Game 7, which is embarrassing.

Not sure why so many want Tavares back. His counting stats are such that he can still get a decent last contract, probably with a higher AAV than the Leafs would want to pay him. Maybe he takes the hometown discount, but they need to rid themselves of this core. Rielly we are stuck with, he is cooked and nobody is touching the 5 years remaining on that contract.

The jays aren’t much better man. Idk if they’re even gonna make the playoffs.

The Jays have not won a single playoff game in 8 years, let alone a series. They also have s bottom-5 farm system.
