What's there to discuss? The team is on a downward trajectory and they're moving fast. Milwaukee isn't a Free Agent destination, their only trade asset is Giannis, there is no path to improve.

The best thing for the Bucks is to trade Giannis and move on

Remember when Giannis pretended to leave the Bucks so that Bucks picks were more valuable for the Jrue trade. After trade was done he signed up for the super max.

Not expecting the same thing here but worth remembering. Bucks actually in a good position be a bit active this offseason.

Yeah but that was before they were in cap hell because of the 2nd apron and wasted their last bit of assets to go after Lillard and dump Middleton. They can't aggregate players and have 60M in dead cap next season. They have no real assets that anyone wants besides Giannis. They don't have a first round pick this year either. There is no way they can be considered to be go in a good position

Outside of Giannis the Bucks have the worst roster and least trade assets in the league. It’s a total wasteland.

1st apron cap is $196m.

Bucks should be able to use full tax MLE ($14m) and BAE ($5m) to add a couple rotation players to this roster:

I like Dame but they misplayed it. At a minimum you have to not make Jrue available to your rival.

Also, the bad moves predated the Dame desperation play. Giannis had a crazy peak and Jrue and Middleton were good pieces so yeah they won a chip. But the goal once you identify you have a superstar is to get a long term roster around him that can stay in contention. Lots of small market teams misplay it like Cavs first time with LeBron.

But sure they got a ring so mission accomplished in that regard.

I also think Giannis should have focused on the PnR with Dame.

Yeah, it was a huge gamble and risky move. Ultimately it didn't work out.

I agree that it would've been best to put a more sustainable cast around Giannis, even if it meant growing pains.

Also remember that the Bucks moved Holiday to the Blazers, and days later Portland moved him to Boston. So the Bucks didn't ship Jrue to the Celtics themselves.

About the sustainable cast, I think teams when they get a guy like Giannis should start thinking really long term. I remember all the desperate moves the Cavs made during LeBron's first run. You should just consider the timeline given rookie contract, and outright tell the guy, we're focused on creating a roster that lasts for years for you so we might get worse initially. I think small market teams are too afraid of superstars sometimes.

The tweet that caught my eye is when asked what city outside his hometown is he happiest, and he said Florida cities. I don’t think it’ll happen this offseason but it wouldn’t surprise me when this contract is up if Giannis ends up in Miami. Imo Riley is gearing up and will get his ducts in a row to make a hard push for a big star depending on the upcoming FA classes. Since Mourning got there in the 90s, Miami always ends up with a top 10 league player eventually. Plus with the way their organization is run(Heat culture)that would be something that I could see Giannis really impressed by.

OKC/HOU/SA are automatically out because they are in the West. Only NYK makes the biggest sense for him; in playoff contention every year, the biggest market

I read that it takes 12 months to recover from the injury Lillard has and when he comes back he'll need time to shake off any rust. That means he'll be 36 years old and on the last year of his contract (58 million).

Dame will definitely fetch a decent return for the team that agrees to pay his contract.

Anyway Milwaukee are pretty screwed if Giannis wants out but at least they have Kuzma to lead the tank and give Brooklyn New Orleans and Washington great draft picks.

They are going to end up trading Giannis, because he probably wants to be traded, but the ideal scenario for Milwaukee would be keeping him and retooling around him as best they can, even if that doesn't lead to contention. When you're one of the less attractive free agent destinations and you have a Top 3 player who the fans love, and you're in the playoffs every year, you hold on to that.
