Orlando will have to give up Franz if you want Giannis. I am certain that's what part of what The Bucks would want.

The two teams that give him the best chance to win the title (OKC and SAS) are out West though. I don't think any East team even has the pieces to trade for him.

Bucks can't rebuild while Lillard is there.

Bucks more likely to continue to hunt the playoffs until 2028.

Giannis and filler for Towns and OG works for both teams. Knicks can afford to lose both for Giannis without really losing offense and defense.

I can't imagine a scenario where the Bucks turn down Harper + picks or Chet/JDub + picks for a chance to make the play-in for a few years.

But Giannis won't go there. He would use his leverage now to move to New York. He wants to stay east and be in a big city... New York is that city.

Giannis will not go to Oklahoma at his age, he has no ties there and he has a ring already. He wants to be on a good team and ideal city.

First of all, it doesn't matter where Giannis wants to go since he has 2 years left on his contract.

Moreover, the only rumour we have so far is that Giannis prefers to play in a state with no or low income tax.

Are they?

Outside of Giannis, they have no one with any real value on their roster.

They should be able to bring back GTJ, Portis, BroLo.
They will have $14m MLE to spend and $5m BAE. They could also open a $14m DPE for Lillard.

You're tripping if you think Giannis wouldn't want to play with Shai

Why on earth would you want that trade?

Love to hsve KAT and OG on the roster but damn, Giannis is a legit top 3 player in the league and it's not everyday a super talent like him is available.

Okay, that’s totally fair, but your spacing would be atrocious.

I think he ultimately ends up at Brooklyn. Just a gut feeling.

Impressive thing to say based on nothing

One more time for the people in the back. "If" Giannis asks out his preferred destinations will be to a contending team with no state income tax or a low cost of living city.

"If" Giannis is traded to a city like NY or LA it'll be because they beat every other offer and Milwaukee sold to the highest bidder and not because he made it happen

Ehh, guess that’s active. I don’t see much of a road for an improved roster next season, but maybe they have some tricks up their sleeve.

A bit off topic but can Boston open up a DPE for Tatum?

i hope Giannis won't be shy to his front office in specifically naming which teams he want to move. Bucks checkmated here but at least they get some value off their star.

Yes. But more of a question for ownership spending more.

Celtics should trade Jaylen Brown and fillers for Giannis. I think a package that includes Jaylen Brown would interest any team.

Not bad actually for the Celtics. Having a dominant post player like Giannis who would force the defense to collapse would free up their shooters. Could end up being a quite lethal combination.

Why not trade Tatum for Giannis?

Would need to get the MIL26swap back from Pels but it could be win-win for Boston and Bucks. Bucks tank in 25-26 and then have Lillard+Tatum for 26-27 with a minor rebuild.

You don't trade franchise icons like Tatum, even if he is out for next season. He is not a good fit for us imo. Besides he wants to play in New York or Florida it seems. Brooklyn bound I am sure of it.

Rafael122 wrote:I have a couple of thoughts:

- This might be one of the rare instances where trading a generational, franchise player might be beneficial for all involved: fans, ownership, player. Fans got a ring out of it. It'd be one thing if he's bolting b/c he has no chance at a ring, but they got one and that memory will last forever for a generation of fans. Ownership doesn't have to be the bad guy here and can reset the franchise, even though ownership/GM/scouts have basically done a horrible job drafting over the last handful of years and are in this position because of it. And player, he's not going to get booed when he goes back to Milwaukee as someone on the opposing team.

- Probably in the minority when I say this but: Giannis is the PF version of Westbrook. We see Russ' game now that his athleticism is slowly leaving him. He's a turnover machine, not a great shooter and once you strip all of that, he becomes a sunk cost. Giannis is a Hall of Famer, all world, but this man is a horrible 3 point shooter, and a below average free throw shooter. There is nothing in his bag that would suggest he has a jumper/fadeway etc to lean on once he's not able to go downhill every single time. It would actually be in Milwaukee's best interest to trade him while his value is at an all time high because his game when he's 32...33...34 years old isn't going to be so great.

He was one of the best mid-range scorers in the league this season. He's added that to his game.

Yes I also think Brooklyn bound.

Nets can take either of KP or Jrue off your hands too. Which do you think Giannis prefers to be paired with?
