My brother surprised me today with tickets to game 3!

Any suggestions/tips on where to go Saturday night/Sunday afternoon for food around Gainbridge fieldhouse? Outdoor seating, basic bar food, ect... thank you!!

On paper, I like Pacers' chance given how well balanced our team has been performing and we have more depth.

In reality, New York is the only big market left for NBA Final rating. So you figure.

Knicks 4-2 or 4-3 Pacers.

When I had tickets we'd go to Pearl Street Pizza, Pier 48, 5 Guys, Buffalo Wild Wings, Prime 47, and Nesso. All good but some pricey. Lots more options if you're willing to walk a bit or park further away.

We are staying at a hotel downtown, so won't be doing much driving. Those options seem great tho, I will check them out, thank you!

which hotel? I was naming places nearest the fieldhouse but there could be another list near the hotel. game 3 is race day though. expect it to be much easier to find a seat at noon when everyone is at the track than at dinner when the crowd has returned to their hotels.

downtown if full of steakhouses with the local one being St Elmo's (and its sister place Harry and Izzy's) with its signature ultra spicy shrimp cocktail.

Downtown Indy is loaded with restaurants. Many steakhouses, a great variety, high end options, plus loads of bar/restaurants to drink in. Depending on where your hotel is located many could be within walking distance. You can also Uber easily within the downtown area. Very few fast food options are available downtown but the few that I recall near the Fieldhouse that Wizop didn’t mention are Hot box pizza, Arby’s, Subway, White Castle, and Steak and Shake. I’m not sure what options are located in the food court at the circle center mall.

If you google downtown Indianapolis restaurants a link comes up for the top rated restaurants and it has a map of ALL the restaurants. It shows their location and rating but more importantly will show you the proximity to the gainbridge fieldhouse which is located just across from E. Georgia Street on S. Pennsylvania Street. I think this map will be very helpful for your search. Also you can check with your hotel about nearby restaurants.

The fieldhouse is cashless for food and drinks. You also have to go through a security checkpoint inside so the less you have in your pockets the better. Have fun and hopefully the Pacers win. My son has only game 4 this series.

Wizop brought up a great point about the Indy 500 happening. The city will be packed with fans it will be best not to have to drive around. Hopefully you don’t have to use Uber and have your own vehicle for departure as busy times get mighty expensive.

The race should be over by roughly 4pm and the race fans heading back downtown for dinner, and to the bars if they’re also Pacer fans or Knicks fans without tickets. With the 8pm start time the game probably won’t be over until 10:30. By that time the race fans should be done dining and possibly at the bars drinking or crashing out in their hotels after a long day in the sun. Hopefully this helps you plan your day and evening

My brother booked so i will find out and post but he said we're close to Gainbridge fieldhouse. We're basic dudes, don't need anything fancy, just some place to drink some beers, maybe outdoor patio (not sure how weather will be) or even some live music and some bar food. lol

Thanks for all the recommendations and tips. It's my third trip to Indianapolis to see the Pacers and first playoff game. Can't wait!

If you like Beer try the Tax Man Brewery on Delaware, it's close to the field house. There's a great restaurant right across the street from GB on Penn called Pier 48, mostly sea food.

For b-fast or lunch, there is a small cafe at 225 w. Washington. It’s a bit of a walk from Gainbridge, but not all that far. Cafe Patachou. Local owned & run. Open kitchen. Food all made from scratch when you order. It’s an omelet, sandwich, breakfast all day kinda place. A bit pricey $20 per head? But it’s worth going just for the cinnamon toast! :D

Will check with a few foodies that are still in the area & post others. If it’s steaks, as others have posted St. Elmo’s / Harry & Izzy’s. They do have a couple of appetisers that can make a meal for 1.

If you want live music & good (bar-pub but a little above average) - Slippery Noodle Inn for live Blues. Been there since before prohibition (in some form). 1 of the consistent places in downtown for decades. Hal, the owner recently passed, so who knows what it’s like now, but I wouldn’t believe that will change it much. Race night,… it might be packed with a que? If so, there are others nearby, but for me, that’s the place to start? :guitar:

I went to the Slippery Noodle during the fall Devour Indy event before a pre season Colts game probably fifteen years ago. I remember getting an appetizer, salad, dessert, baked potato and steak (ribeye I think) and it was amazingly delicious. I really wasn’t expecting the quality of food received as I had always heard more about the music and drinks. Of course I never went back because I didn’t frequent Indy bars and it was a one time thing to say I’d been there. I did however recommend it to many people visiting Indy in my Uber driver days years afterwards.

I bet Wacko knows many places around Indy from him driving clients around !

Many years ago,... you could have claimed that I paid rent at the Noodle,... as opposed to a bar tab,... :D

Too many good memories of the place,... Food has had ups & downs,... usually, it has been very good. But the music!,... the venue to see it! the place is just a must visit,.... Last place the entire, original blues brothers band played (including a set from Elwood - the real Elwood, after Jake had passed,...)

This might help,... then again,.. it might just be overload,..  :o :D

11 South Meridian Street

Best Coffee on the planet! bar none! (and yes,.. I have had Turkish, Ethiopian, Brazilian, Argentinian,... even 'Blue Haze',....)

Never been there,... don't know if they serve anything else,... but, if you are nearby & like coffee,.... (even over ice cream, like I like mine,...) :D
