Really should be a "both" option on these trade threads.

A lot of people, mostly Bulls fans, were saying that the Bulls should have gotten a pick back and it was evidence of the ineptitude of the Bulls FO.

I actually had no problem at all with this trade and truly thought it was a win-win. If anything the Bulls won this long term.

Two things can be true - the Bulls made out OK but probably should have been able to extract a first round pick from a team that has as many as OKC has that they can’t possibly use and were getting rid of a guy who was deadweight for them in the playoffs for a guy they could definitely use.

Wondering how those who thought Chicago got the better of this deal feel after watching the defense Caruso played on Jokic in Game 7 of the OKC/DEN series.

Caruso wouldn't have hit the shot that cost the top pick, so clear L for the Bulls.

Watching Alex repeatedly play himself onto the disabled list for a listless under .500 Bulls team hurt my soul so I'm just glad he's playing meaningful basketball.

I wanted the Bulls to get picks for Caruso instead of Giddey, but that's not the direction the front office wanted to go in.

how fast the caruso extension went is really all you need to know about okc satisfaction with the caruso return. his epm is like 3.0 or something crazy in the limited role thunder has to offer.

giddey also got what he wanted. he's now playing for the max contract he wouldn't have in okc. he wouldn't even have a chance to play for a max since if he stayed he would play 6th man.

chi traded an expiring asset that doesn't fit their state of their franchise, since caruso works better on upper echelon of contention. got one of the brightest and most unique talents in the nba to develop. in 2025 nba draft i am sure there'll be older players than giddey picked in first round.

caruso, aged 30 and ever away from mega deals, got 80 mil in his bank before hitting market.
Very well said.

Bulls are setting themselves up nicely…
to continue their utter dominance of playin appearances. Changing out their previous playin cast for a fresh-faced, new playin generation.

We don’t give a rats ass since we won’t face Jokic in a game seven anytime ever. We’re giddy for giddey.
:o LeBron is 0-7 in game winning/tying FGs in the finals. And is 20/116 or 17% in game winning/tying FGs in the 4th/OT for his career. That's historically bad :o

How did Chicago not get a single first round draft pick?

Not even a conditional pick...

The Bulls have a GM who doesn't value draft picks.

They did a sign and trade with DDR to the Kings where SA took on Barnes to get a 2031 pick swap. Why didn't the Bulls just take on Barnes to get that swap? My answer if that AK doesn't value picks.

When they traded Markkanen to Cleveland the Bulls got a first round pick that's protected 1-14 through 2028. What odd protections. On top of that it turns into one 2nd (not two like most trades) if it falls in the protections.

The GM also said (when he drafted Patrick Williams) that he never wanted to draft that high again.

Etc. Etc.

There are Bulls fans who think Giddey was a fair deal for Caruso because Giddey is young with potential. He improved this year, which is promising. However, and this is just my two cents, I don't think it was a good idea to trade for a player who they'll have to overpay in a year. The team isn't in the right position to do that (picks were my preference).

But hey...Giddey had a good season and maybe it'll work out better than I expected, even though I have my doubts.

If Josh maintain that 38% from 3, then yes, heck maybe Bulls might have won,
but if he goes back to 33% then the OKC won because they never even gave one single FRP for a player who can really defend and hit 3's.

Easy explanation.

They have one of the absolute worst FOs in the entire league.

Which is stupid af given we’re not really a free market destination either
