Is Wiggins value only a lotto protected first? Not questioning, just asking. I would've assumed it's still unprotected 1st but maybe I'm stuck in 2022.

I don't get this for Miami. Stealth tank? Do you know who we are?

Yea. A play in team who got swept in first round and owes a pick in 2027. You can better raise your ceiling with a high lotto pick + FA signing(s) in 2026 offseason.

This exchange is like me talking to godaddy about what Toronto should do.

But I also heard Freak just tell me Miami already had too many playable bodies at Wiggins position so they should still be able to compete while picking up an asset and cleaning up future money a bit.

Coming from a guy whose team signed Ingram to a huge contract and wasn't even in the play-in. You guys are trying way harder to stay mid than the Heat, thanks for the team building advice.
The Heat have been mid for the last decade in some way or form, they kept trying to be "competitive," always on pace for a low playoff spot (except one season where they made the #1 seed, where they sent you Precious for Kyle). They won't change now.

This exchange is like me talking to godaddy about what Toronto should do.I see the reality of the roster, and he sees what the team says they want to do plus the optimism of a fan.

I didn't mean we were GOING to compete. I meant we were going to TRY and compete. Drastic difference. Lol! We're not a team who stealth tanks. At the end of the season, if we're clearly out of it, sure, but now?
And the discussion you're referencing was sending us someone who doesn't move the needle. Niang isn't going to get regular minutes ahead of Highsmith, which sees him competing with Jacquez and Larsson for the 4th wing spot in our rotation. I wouldn't want to play him over either of those two. That roster spot would be much better spent on Dru Smith or a developmental player.
As for trading an asset and still being able to compete, like every other team, it depends on what at you're trading. I don't see Wiggins as a guy who's easily replaceable.

We were a team who was clearly tanking last season, hence we avoided the play in on purpose. i think you should do what we did last season to tank a year then get a big acquisition to compete the following year when you owe your pick. The difference between this heats team and prior one is you lost your playoff leader in butler and this team's ceiling is no where near the previous few years' version

But we already did that this past year and after getting ingram that ship has sailed i think... i'm saying heats should do what toronto did this past year but with hopefully better lotto luck than we got.

Re: Denver - Miami - Chicago
Everybody wants to send MPJ to CHI but after trading DeRozan, Lavine and looking to move an expiring Vucevic I just don't see the Bulls trading for a guy to bail out somebody else that gave the Huge contract to a guy that they now regret. They have the room to resign Giddey this year, and looking out to next summer they could have Huerter and Ayo expiring giving them room to resign Coby White if that's their plan but trading for MPJ now means they'll have hm soaking up $40M of cap space tying their hands to resign White or many other FAs. And nobody is thinking MPJ is going to carry them higher than where they've been going.
