S/O to former San Antonio Spurs' VP of Basketball Operations Sam Presti for building such an incredibly deep and talented team, without whom this award doesn't happen. He deserves a ton of credit for this.

Shai was great. Jokic was greater.

Jokic average a triple-double while shooting 41% beyond the arc . Not good enough to be the traditional formula of highest scorer and/or best player on the best team, apparently.

Well deserved. Jokic had a stupid season worthy of MVP also and still rightly holds the title of best player but Shai had a statistically dominant season, plays both ends at an elite level, and led a 68 win team. The H2H playoff matchup is not factored but its a cherry on top for Shai. To outplay Jokic and win is fuel to the argument.

Jokic will probably be back to winning it again next season lol

it's tough not to have any rings to show for it up to this point, but the thunder's ability to acquire and develop talent is unmatched.

It is, but let's be honest, they got really lucky with SGA. If George doesn't force his way to the Clippers, SGA never goes to OKC. They didn't identify him in the draft and move up for him, they didn't initiate the talks to get him, he was simply the obvious thing to ask for in a PG package. It worked out great for the Thunder though.

SGA won far more games, and putting up big numbers on a losing team was not a recipe for winning mvp in the past. Jokic already won two with poor records, you can't make the award a farce by giving it to him again.

Unless something changes with the team he may be done winning MVPs. Isn’t he already 30?

Shot over 50% from the field and led the league in points even if you subtract the free throws. Some of you haters need to give it a rest.

Congrats SGA well deserved.

Are you and Optms related by chance? Cause I've never seen you two do anything but constantly slander and hate on Jokic on this site. Literally nonstop. It's like y'all are the spokespeople for every salty Lakers fan  . It's hilarious.

1. SGA won far more games because he's on a far better team. If you gave Jokic SGA’s supporting cast, he wins MVP voting in a landslide, along with an NBA Championship.
2. Jokic wasn't on a "losing team." They were literally the 4th Seed and 1/2 a game away from being the 3rd Seed.
3. Jokic has never won an MVP with a losing record.

Hope this helps.

Denver beat 18 winning teams this year

Jokic was only on court for 14 of those wins. Shai on court for 31 wins against winning teams, with Hartenstein, Chet and Jwill all missing decent portions of the year.

Jokic is only one of 2 MVPs in last 20 years to have won the award with a losing record vs winning teams. He did that in 2021-2022 and now you want to give him another sympathy MVP when Shai put up an all time season and won 5th most games in NBA history with one of the younger teams in the league.

Frankly, the vote shouldn’t be close. Shai outperformed him in their series and sent him packing, which does nothing but reaffirm voters made correct choice. Great day for NBA .

Your point is well-taken. Helping a team win 68 wins vs. helping a team win 50 games could give one candidate a big leg up over another. But I don't agree with your use of the words "losing team," "poor record," or "farce."

Basically just using the team record argument and obviously the core question is how much of the difference in record was Shai being more valuable than Jokic vs Shai having a better supporting cast than Jokic

Well deserved.

30.7 PER and 11.5 BPM season with scoring title and 33-5-6-2 splits, on 64TS% efficiency, with elite defense, on +12.7 SRS and 68-14 team - this is a recipe for MVP. No one should be mad about it.
