Well deserved. Would have been happy with either candidate. A great season for him, question is if he will win the FMVP too now. We will see!

Fully deserved.
Just a sterling individual season (led raw plus-minus by over 200 points), incredible scoring volume and efficiency, and a historically great 68 win team. That’s an MVP.

I kind of struggle to see any reason other than voter fatigue why Jokic wouldn't get it, but that happens a lot through history so nothing new. It's resulted in plenty of less deserving MVPs than SGA.

Congrats to SGA. As a result of winning MVP......
"Because he won MVP (and this would have applied to being named All-NBA this year), SGA is now eligible to sign a five-year $380M extension but would have to wait until the 2026 offseason."

SGA was very competitive with Jokic in advanced stats+SGA’s team won 18 more games than Jokic’s which like it or not is a major factor in MVP voting

it's tough not to have any rings to show for it up to this point, but the thunder's ability to acquire and develop talent is unmatched.
I mean they’re almost guaranteed to win one this year and should be massive favorites for each of the next 5 years. I think they’re gonna convert the MVPs into rings pretty easily.

Garbage timing… nba has to fix this. Announce before game 1 of first round.

Seventh straight international MVP, and it doesn't get any easier for Americans from here with Wemby and Luka entering their primes (in addition to SGA).

I didn’t realize we had so many weird Jokic fans here. For the most part, I got the impression even his diehard fanboys were level headed.
This was well deserved for SGA. Voter’s fatigue is a real thing, and all the other all-time greats had to deal with it as well, which also shows how dominant Jokic has been since 2021. Tip your hats.

Well deserved.
I know Jokic fans started watching basketball in June 2023 but historically MVP has never been “best player in the league.” Shai had elite stats plus his team was 18 games ahead of Jokic’s in the standings.

Jokic average a triple-double while shooting 41% beyond the arc . Not good enough to be the traditional formula of highest scorer and/or best player on the best team, apparently.
Maybe they counted the OKC series against him.
SGA 29.7, 6.4, 6.6, 62.8TS%, 130 ORtg.
Jokic 28.4, 13.9, 5.9, 59TS%, 114 ORtg. (9 FG attempts game 7)
Obviously SGA enjoys a soft whistle and Jokic is hacked without consequence, though.

Not possible, voting was done weeks ago. They just like to drag it out for "drama".

Ya I know.
But SGA outplayed him and we can consider that series as fans.

Congrats SGA well deserved.
Its not about free throws, its about phantom fouls that put defenders into foul trouble and signals everyone that the refs wont let FTA be defended like the other players.

Don't really have a problem with this one. I personally leans towards for Jokic, but there is no world where you can call this an "undeserved MVP" for Shai. He lead his team to the best record in the NBA, historic net rating and put up one of the best guard seasons in recent memory. 100% a worthy winner.
