Beal for Murray w/Bulls

Post#1 » by jredsaz » Wed May 21, 2025 10:52 pm

Pelicans receive Brad Beal, Dalen Terry
Pels consolidate CJ and Murray into Beal. Beal will fit the roster and with Zion, Murphy and Jones they should be competitive. Shave years off salary.

Suns receive Dejounte Murray, Patrick Williams
Suns get off Beal but take on other team’s problems. Hope Murray will bounce back after his recovery and pair with Book in the Suns backcourt long term.

Bulls receive CJ McCollum
Bulls continue to clear the decks for 2026.

How are you getting Beal to sign off on this?

If that was Joe Dumars' first move it would be ground zero

Beal said he wants a competitive team and warm weather. I think this checks those boxes. Zion is a super star and the rest of the team is talented (when healthy). I think New Orleans is a possibility if he’s as done with the Suns as I think they are with him. Last year got ugly. No way to be sure.

I don't think Beal believes New Orleans is competitive. How could he? Most of the players that made them competitive the two seasons prior to last are gone. Zion isn't dependable. Team is dealing both PG's and Beal understands as well as anyone how much a PG is needed with Phoenix being non-competitive without one.

Maybe, but I'd not have confidence in that.

I’d think Zion, Murphy and Jones is an appealing core. I don’t think they are title contenders but I can see a path to the playoffs with some further roster work. It really depends on how bad his position in Phoenix has become.

Phoenix isn't owed s***, they're getting off Beal's contract.

Feels like PHX gets off of Beals contract for free, and even gets a quality pg for their trouble.

I mean Beal can at least play basketball. Murray has been bad and now has a blown Achilles. Williams is just bad.

You have to actually look at the whole deal and not just hur deal Beal. They take on far worse money and for longer. They are absolutely owed value.

Williams at 18 million isn't a cap killer, he's not worth his contract but he can play a role.

There is zero reason for Chicago to add value, zero.

I mean Chicago gets a better player on a better contract. They owe value. Now its fine to say hey we'll just sit with this bad contract for 4 more years and hope he gets good, but most teams like upgrading and clearing bad deals. Don't pay something super valuable, but say that Portland 1st? Yeah they should absolutely do that if they could--they probably couldn't.
