Credit to the puppet masters?

All that I’m reminded of when I watch the Padres is how much better their roster is than ours at a payroll of 40M less.

Already at 5 DRS in CF through only 120 innings (for comparison, he had 28 DRS in just over 1000 last year, so he’s getting better). Far and away the best defensive player in baseball and the MVP of this team.

Nobody is arguing about his defense. No need to change the subject. When the home runs cool off, Varsho is back to being the Mendoza Level .200 hitter he has always been.

He had a great 2 weeks to start 2023, then was one of the worst everyday offensive players in MLB that year. Last year, he had a great 2 weeks in April/May when he looked like Barry Bonds. Then he hit below .200 for five months after that. Now as the home runs cool off, he is back to being the .200 hitter he has always been.

MVP Varsho with the grand slam immediately after this post to lead the team with 7 HRs in just 15 games, it’s gotta be rough to be you

It was going to be either a Home Run or Strikeout for Mr. Mendoza. A great home run when it was already a blow out.

Imagine continuing to hate the team’s best player despite all evidence just to cling on to some mediocre slap hitting catcher the team away traded 2.5 years ago. Rough indeed.

We'll see if he is the best player in the weeks ahead. Varsho was amazing and looked like Barry Bonds for two weeks in April/May last year also. He was also exceptional in 2023 to start the year for two weeks hitting wise before sucking the rest of the year. He has mashed for two weeks now also in this 2025 season. If he can keep it up and not fall flat on his face like he did in 2023/2024, I will be the first to say so on here. History says otherwise about Mr. Mendoza Varsho.

I love our little fire hydrant centre fielder.

Wow. It's been a full 81 outs since the Padres have scored a run. Just absolutely abysmal.

Was nice to get a laugher today. Great game all around.
