sometimes i wonder if the announcers are watching the same game i am. it was clear as the day whistle blew before the shot, they had no idea (heck they thought it was a 3 even though paige's entire foot was inside the line)

i guess the refs didn't know either because they had to review it

We need to have more games to see if she's really fallen off a cliff, or if this is just a slow start. And Cunningham hasn't played yet. If those two are contributing meaningfully to the offense, that will take a lot of pressure off Clark, who was quite frankly asked to do too much last night. I mean, she came through, but I can't imagine going through an entire season carrying that much offensive responsibility, even as the other team rotates defenders to hound/foul her.

I think theyre missing someone in their front court to play alongside of Boston. Atlanta bullied them in the paint with Howrd, gray griner and jones.. teams with depth in the front court will follow the blueprint..

Sophie cunninghamg is expendable IMO.. weak defense, just shoots threes and not consistent with it.. they should look to find a big to play next to boston.. maybe someone like tina charles
It’ll hurt her efficiency somewhat, but CC can carry at whatever level White asks her to (on offense). She has plenty of experience doing it — those Iowa teams were almost strictly CC buckets and CC creating buckets off good passing. One woman army.

Is it tougher in the pros? Of course. But Clark is tougher herself now.

The choice with Mitchell was an interesting one. I don’t think she’s around for the Fever’s first finals appearance, whenever that is, but that doesn’t make keeping her now the wrong choice. They aren’t beating the upper echelon of teams in a playoff series this year just by adding a couple past-their-prime all-stars and Cunningham. The goal, one would assume, is progression from decent to good. A playoff series win. More experience for Clark and Boston. Incremental improvement.

The championship form team of the future needs a prime Clark and Boston, good defense everywhere else, and play finishers, be it shooters, cutters or post play. Clark won’t rest much in playoff games, and she’s the best creator for others the league has ever seen and will get better yet. They’re moving in the proper direction, but this team isn’t it yet.

wait? how many all-stars do the Fever need before we expect them to compete.

Caitlin Clark - Top 3 Player in the League
Kelsey Mitchel - All Star. Top 15 Player
Aliyah Boston - All Star. Top Tier Big

Top Tier Supporting Cast

Sophie Cunningham
Natasha Howard
DaWanna Bonner
Lexie Hull - was playing great last year

They should be expected to compete imo. They have enough talent to win a title but CC/Boston need more time to develop mentally. But the talent is there.

Goddamn Dijonai  W season is in full effect

I thought this was a good play on ball but the follow through is what makes this a flagrant as opposed to a hard common foul. Caught her right in the face.

Poor Paige got basically body slammed

I'm not sure if Kelsey Mitchell is a Top 15 player. It's hard to get there by doing only one thing well, which in Mitchell's case is scoring. But maybe it doesn't matter, because the second year version of CC + the third year version of AB is something else. The Fever would have beaten the Dream comfortably if Howard & Bonner hadn't been terrible. For me, all the Fever need for the team to contend is for Clark & Boston to remain healthy, and for the supporting cast to be solid. They don't need to be great, but they do need to their jobs -- defend, rebound, and hit open shots (including FTs).

Without the follow through, that's not even a foul in the 2025 NBA playoffs. The referees would rule "incidental contact." It's rough out there this year.

Yeah honestly what makes this look worse than it really was is the impact from Shep and Paige hitting the floor. That was a hard bump

The Mystics' dream of going 44-0 is over, but I'm glad the Valkyries got on the board. Fun game, even if nobody could hit a shot for the first 16 minutes.

Who knew it would come from a Veronica Burton offensive outburst. It was Janelle Salaun's first game and she looked solid. Kayla was fantastic.
Leite looked good too. This team has a lot of talent.
This team certainly going to shoot some 3's. I think they were like 1-20 in the 1st half with even Mo Billings having a full green light.

Turnovers really did the Mystics in. I love Sykes and Melbourne, but they aren't really PG's. Both are fun drivers and scorers, but it just gets out of control a lot. Sykes only had one of the turnovers, but that was really because many of her passes were so out of control, they got kicked off a teammate's knee out of bounds. I say that as a huge Sykes fan. Her two-way capability is awesome. Long, fantastic defender. Great driver and scorer. She's probably the biggest reason for the team's hot start. She would have been the perfect guard playing alongside Georgia Amoore.

The rooks were solid again, but this was just one of those games where the Mystics looked like a collection of really good players with no direction.

Shakira Austin with another Tech. I thought it was for trying to break TIp's nose, but apparently it was something she said to the ref. She now has 3 Tech's in 17 minutes this season. She's so talented. I worry she may not be long for this league if she can't keep it in check (or stay healthy).

I'm officially starting a "Free Emily Engstler" campaign. I understand the Mystics have a load of frontcourt depth. But if they won't play her, they need to trade her. She's so good. She'd make a team like the Wings better immediately.

I hate the Prime Video broadcasts, for some reason, but hopefully they are better this year.

This could be another rough one for the Sky if they haven't figured some things out in these last 5 days. Though they did oddly have the Liberty's number last year.

Not gonna include this game because that would be unfair against a team like the Liberty, but if they get off to a slow start, the "did they dump Spoon too soon" conversations are going to resurface. And I'm here for it. Not to mention one of Spoon's assistants kicking ass in Washington (last night aside).

Marsh seems like a fantastic hire and they looked good in the pre-season. Hopefully, they can get it together and we can avoid that.

This is already lookin like a butt whoopin. Indy don't play D and when they try to they just hack the hell out of players. They need to re-tool and get some defenders. Can't win if you can't ever get stops. I don't care how many Steph Curry 3's Clarke hits
