They also have an article up about Wilken and how his wife essentially saved his career by suggesting he visit an eye doctor.

“My wife was the driving force behind me finally getting my eyes checked,” Wilken said. “Right when I was coming back from the injury she had suggested it.”

Wilken resisted the idea at first, feeling as though he had no symptoms of worsening eyesight. Sara however, persisted, and she reached out to Wilken’s agent.

This turned out to be sage wisdom.

Tests revealed Wilken had 50th percentile depth perception. Not exactly in-line with the level of vision required to hit a baseball at a high level, it was likely the root cause of Wilken’s struggles in the month following him being struck by that fastball.

“My eyes basically converged,” Wilken said, describing his eyes as having “moved three optometry units inward.”

“When you hold your phone up to your face to read a text better, that’s how the doctor described what my eyes were doing when I was trying to play.”

What followed were three months of eye therapy and rehabilitation seven days a week from December into February of 2025. Wilken would drive an hour from his home to Walesby Vision Center in Land O’ Lakes, Florida for treatment.

“Basically, the training taught my eyes to work independently of each other and then fuse them into one object.” Wilken said. “It’s complex and confusing and, at times, I don’t even know how to fully explain all of the work we did.”

I would think an annual comprehensive eye exam would be standard for every player in the system.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

BP hitters and pitchers of the day.

Jacob Misiorowski, RHP, Milwaukee Brewers (Triple-A Nashville): 7 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 5 K, 1 BB.
Misiorowski is somehow posting a 1.46 ERA over nearly 50 innings of work while walking almost 3.5 per nine. “Somehow” is a fastball touching 103 mph and a potentially double-plus curve, with a mid-90s cutter thrown in for fun. A total of 59 strikeouts over 49 ⅓ frames actually feels a bit disappointing, but if the control continues its upward trajectory there is the potential for even greater dominance (and presumably a call-up).

Melvin Hernandez, RHP, Milwaukee Brewers (Low-A Carolina): 7 IP, 2 ER, 6 H, 8 K.
He might not be as headline-worthy as some of his Zebulon neighbors, but Hernandez is also quite young and possesses both pitchability and stuff upside. The 18-year-old now sports a 2.38 ERA over 34 innings.

The Made, Pena, Dinges top of the order for Carolina is so much fun. Walk, base hit, base hit RBI and Carolina is on the board. Both Pena and Dinges steal bases. Unfortunately Torres gave up six earned runs in two innings.

Awesome. Both guys were off my top 20 at the start of the season and right now would be comfortably in.

The fact that Made, Pena, and now Anderson all came from the same IFA period is insane. Obviously still very early, but all three have just been crushing it since coming stateside.

Based on McCalvy's newsletter this morning, it sounds like the Brewers are comfortable with keeping Pratt and Wilken in AA, and Miz in AAA for now. I wouldn't hold my breath on promotions for any of them.

No surprise, but the Brewers rank #1 for BB%. They also rank high for OBP (#5), SO% (#5), and SB/G (#5).

Overall rank #4 in their offensive category average.

On the pitching side they rank lower overall at #10. They rank high in HR allowed (#1), Runs Against Average (#3), and ERA (#3). They're brought down by low rankings in K% (#23) and K-BB% (#19).

ESPN updated their prospect rankings. Made comes in at #5, and Miz comes in at #30. I think they're sleeping on Pena.

How long are they going to wait until they move him to Triple A?
