hold the ball and defend the three. even intentional foul if you have to.

thibs didn't miss 12 free throws though.

I was surprised to see the Knicks foul up 3, let alone with some shaky free throw shooters on the court and with no timeouts left. We literally risked losing the game in regulation, and we didn't avoid the tie. Uncharacteristic of Thibs, let alone in this particular context.

While I don't necessarily feel strongly about it, I think Thibs should have used more of his timeouts to stop the bleeding. I also think we should have killed more seconds on the game clock. The collapse was imminent - you could smell it.

I think he should have also let Brunson sit until the game demanded it. Sure, the Pacers were going to make shots after a cold stretch, but we were clamping the Pacers with McBride and the big lineup. Putting Brunson back in the game breathed new life into their offense.

This loss was a collective collapse, and also a miracle by the Pacers. This was not about just coaching - far from it. But I thought Thibs was offbeat and not sharp enough down the stretch.

Yesterday's 4th was easily Thibs worse coaching quarter I have ever seen and it all came down to 4 minutes, because the 1st 8 minutes was quite good.

The team played great for like 44 mins. I'm broken mentally today.

Someone needs to cover Nesmith next game. And I don't wanna hear no "Coaches' Decision" about it if they don't.

(by the way - Nesmith has shot over 41% from 3pts the past TWO years - It should not have been a surprise to our coaching staff.) :banghead:

firmly agreed on all counts.

**** the starters at that point. you choke them out until the final horn. the only thing they could have done was launch threes.

thank heavens this only counts for one, even if it's the worst loss i've ever seen.

thanks for everything, thibs.

We were rolling with Deuce. We collapsed with Brunson. That's a coaching decision. A rigid coach always defers to his star player. A resourceful coach capitalizes on momentum.

It was a failure for the entire team not just Thibs but it took everyone failing at once to cause this meltdown. If Thibs did a better job with time management we still win.

I don't understand how the coaching staff has data in their hands showing that these guys are shooting like hot fire over the last two rounds and they're like yeah lets leave him wide open.

Total team failure.

Whatever Thibs is supposed to be great at has not transferred to the court. He's just not the right guy going forward.

I am willing to keep Thibs only if we make the Finals. Otherwise he has to go. We are more talented and better than the Pacers as evidenced by the 14 point lead. Losing to them would be a failure.

Sad part is, thibs adjusts in the playoffs but it takes him a game. He doesn’t adjust real time. This is why we drop a game, then win 2 straight. He is not an on the fly coach.

That's my biggest complaint.

Why is he standing there with his arms crossed and his jaw slacked with a confused look on his face when a dude shooting +40% 3pt is getting continously open looks?

The f*ck is he watching????

What is the entire TEAM watching?

The communication with this entire team and staff is pure ASS water.

We're winning in spite of Thibs. He's an OK coach but not a contender's coach IMO. We'll see.

Things Thibs should have done differently to secure that win in the 4th/OT:

-> Kept Brunson off the floor another 1-2 minutes with his 5th foul
-> Not challenged that questionable 4th foul on Brunson. We could have really used that challenge later.
-> Once bringing Brunson back in, should have used Duece and Mitch in place of Hart/KAT for more defense, for at least 1-2 minutes
-> Not switching everything on the perimeter to force them into two point attempts instead of wide open threes
-> Not calling a time out to settle the guys and remind them to use every second of the clock to guarantee a W

Just a masterclass in what not to do with a 14 point lead LOL

sure. also:

not miss free throws (all game long, and big ones down the stretch)
not fail to hold the ball
not make careless turnovers

some of y'all need understand both the wins and losses are shared. but the need to make everything bad = thibs, everything good = players is such a weak look.

thanks for everything, thibs.

There’s no reason precious shouldn’t be playing.

There’s no reason Mitch shouldn’t be starting.

There’s no reason Brunson shouldn’t have stayed on the bench when we’re up 14 and everything is going great.

Thibs doesn’t know what to do. Let’s replace him with someone that does.
