Zion/Sabonis

Post#1 » by SNPA » Wed May 21, 2025 6:34 pm

Simple.

Kings roll dice on upside/health.

Pels take consistency and a great fit with their wings.

I have Sabonis worth a lot more. They're probably a similar level as players when they're healthy (with Zion still having upside but I wouldn't currently say he's better), and Sabonis plays like twice the games Zion does. I'd say the Pels lotto pick makes up the difference personally.

Yes, with what Zion has shown so far, this isn't close.

How many picks are they sending with Zion to the kings? Zion only averages 42 games per season, we are going to need compensation if we are making this trade.

The idea is a prime healthy Zion is around a top ten player. The Kings have no other viable route to a player at that level. The risks are obvious but worth it? Maybe? This would certainly get fans excited about next year vs running it back.

Also, I envision point Zion.

I'm fine with this. Then I'd want to find a way to get a center who plays defense. I think Chuck had a thread recently around Monk + JV for Washington + Gafford. Then something around Demar to 3rd team, Jrue to Sac. Maybe throw MLE at Adams?

Gafford/Adams
Zion/Washington
Keegan/LaRavia
LaVine/Keon
Jrue/Carter

I could get behind this team.

Finally a trade that actually underrated Sabonis, maybe the first one I have ever seen. Kings say no.

I don't think that a prime healthy Zion is possible. He also seems like the type of player you need to tailor your entire team around in order for the team to win with him on the court. But you also need to make sure your team can win without him for roughly 40 games preseason.

Agreed 100% and I don't even think Sabonis is worth that big of a haul

Pels add Alvarado.

Helps Sac with its PG deficit.

If the Pels trade Zion, its likely a blowup, not a horizontal trade. And definitely not if it takes extra assets.

Pretty sure he just got suspended.

Edit: apparently it’s the baseball player.

Zion/Olynk

For

Lavine/2027 spurs first/ Two second round picks

Follow that up with Derozan for Derrick jones jr and Bogi

Monk/Carter
Ellis/Bogi
Keegan/Jones
Zion/Olynk
Sabonis/Jonas

I wouldnt take Sabons for free(expirings). He guarantees that your team never contends and at the same time never gets top 3 pick. Easy pass.

Sabonis has 0 value around the league and Kings will soon find that out, same like Pelicans did with Ingram.

lol.

The only thing that you need to win with Sabonis is long defensive forwards and guards. Hmmm…what team does that sound like?

People complain about Sabonis defense when it’s really just one thing, rim protection. And Sabonis is the best in the league at ending defensive possession with a rebound.

Yea, if those guys are Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant and not Trey Murphy and Herb Jones.

Probably will keep him.

People have short memories. Sabonis led a 48 win team to the third seed just two seasons ago, with a team that defensively did not fit him at all. Since then Sac has taken two steps back, but what would be one step forward? Sabonis is capable of getting a team there.

That same team would be in playin this year if not in lottery. That year was the weakest west in a decade, and teams that were good had problems during regular season, like Lakers for example(they were 7th in RS but made WCF quite easily).
