Do we have an analytics team??

I'm dead ass. Do we? Because fans shouldn't be the only ones looking at this and realizing that the starting unit as constructed hurts this team?

And yes, I absolutely think Josh needs to come off the bench.

Good question. Imo, since the buck stops with Thibs, it’s his call to ignore the analytics that I’m sure his staff is telling him about. Which is weird because he himself has said that he relies the most on these plus minus stats.

The only reason I think he would do that is because of his stubbornness and his favoritism towards Hart because he’s a Thibs type of player to the fullest.

I don't understand Tom.

He has done an excellent job of adjusting after losses. I just worry that if we get dragged into a game 7 at some point, he's not gonna adjust at a critical moment.

F*ck Game 1. We win tomorrow, I definitely believe we can win in Indiana 1 outta 2. We gotta make sure it never gets to a Game 7.

Remember the same squad and rotation is there from last season. They’ve gotten even better.

I looked at the Pacers playoff performances and in all their wins they are, except for one game, shooting over 50% from the field and over 40% from 3. Does anyone remember last year in Game 7 when they shot like 70% for the game? This team can score and is extremely efficient. I just don’t see us beating them at this point. Just taking the big choke collapse out of the equation - we shot 50% and lost. We don’t normally shoot 50% from the field. We can’t shut this team down when it matters. I just don’t see it happening.

Makes what we did so much worse. Because we had actually soundly beaten them, in a way that would have carried over. So Knicks didn't just flush the G1 win in the toilet, they actually flushed a Finals appearance. And yet Tom will probably be back next year. Just lol.

This is a gritty squad and will punch back game 2, we basically outplayed them for 45 minutes of the game and let our guard down. Brunson will come out aggressive as will KAT, we need the wings to be better on the defensive end and we MUST box out. Mitch needs more then 21 minutes because he causes havoc out there. LETS GET THIS GAME WIN GAME 2 and go the road where we play more loose and free.

I don't expect these shots to go in 6/6 down the stretch of the game moving foward, Nothing but good vibes, No negativity, this was not going to be a sweep but I still see us winning this series.

Hart was sleeping on that back cut, but watch Mitch. He SEES McConnell cutting wide open to the basket but TURNS BACK to look at Siakam instead of picking up McConnell?@! You'd think he'd be able to stop him; or was he more afraid of being blamed if the ball went to Siakam for a corner three? Mitch is in there for this D around the basket. Two of our best players asleep on the crucial basket. :nonono:

I think Mitch was guarding Toppin in the near corner not Siakam. OG was on Siakam in the far corner. Which makes it even worse, Mitch should definitely have left Obi to stop McConnell cutting
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

OG is big pissed on this play, this is right after neismith hits the 3 to make the score 123 - 118
KAT gets picked by siakim, but Doesn’t communicate to OG that he’s switching
This is why OG is pissed because he’s trying to figure out who to guard, as KAT ran down the court guarding Neismith and then gets picked off by Siakim

KAT puts these guys is horrible situations time and time again

Must Win Game, in spite of horrendous coaching.
This team deserves every joke and slander aimed at them for what happened yesterday.

It's gut check time. Now we see who is for real or not.

Thing I don’t understand most is being switch heavy vs Boston but not Indy. They don’t have guys like Tatum or Brown that can punish Jalen n KAT as bad, and those two showed they handle their own 1 on 1 when the game plan is understood from the jump. The miscues, drop, getting in foul trouble as a result, etc makes them look so much worse on defense. Hopefully he goes back to it so we don’t get destroyed by the 3 again.

OG was way too deep inside of the line to react to a switch. KAT got screened by Pascal and he pointed for OG to step up

This was 100% a fatigue play and a clear lack of communication. KAT needs to yell Switch and not point. Open your mouth

Communication is everything.

It usually does when you had won the game. And who would have faith in a team after what we saw.

This isn't a movie with a happy ending. It's rank incompetence. That doesn't go away because you want it to.

Carlisle knows what he's doing ... we committed like 15 laughable mistakes because Thibs needs to be put out to pasture but won't be.

If someone gets cooked on a 1 v 1, I can live with that. This is the NBA. Everyone is good regardless of what we think.

I can't live with wide open threes though. That is poor defense and principles

Completely delusional. OG shoots early, isn't guarding anybody, can't gather the ball or make a dunk or just bring the ball out like it should be ... and that's KAT's fault mostly.

What a joke.

They NEEDED a 3 and OG is well inside the line, guarding air. OG gets a pass because why? Nobody knows.

KAT is a better and smarter player than 0g who should be booed every time he touches it next game.

I'd start Mitch over Bridges at this point, the on/off net ratings are not kind to him, he is the sore thumb out of all the guys. And if they're afraid to start Mitch, I'd go with Deuce over Bridges as well.

What I don’t get is how these analytics don’t match what we’ve been watching with how Hart hurts our spacing and allows doubles on Jalen. The rebounds n assists gotta be skewing these numbers lol. He can still get them for us off the bench.

I’d take made 3’s by a wide open Deuce over those Hart rebounds (n assists which will go to someone else like Mikal who should have the ball more)… not to mention a more efficient Jalen once the defense realizes they can’t keep doing that without getting punished. Plus Deuce at POA helps Mikal fall back to his natural position on defense.

I just dunno if these stats capture the whole scope of the game.

you might get the assists between everyone else. you’re not getting the rebounds. or fast break points off those rebounds.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.

Both KAT and OG are at fault. OG was not in position to switch regardless. He was way too far away, he dropped back.

KAT shouldn't point at an assignment he needs to yell switch as soon as Siakam made contact.

It's fine that they're talking these things out.
