Best offer for 7th pick and Bucks 26 and 27 (swap)
Assuming the Pels decide to keep it going with Zion, we have a core of him Herb Jones and Trey Murphy. Those are the only players tryul untouchable in this scenario. Zion isn't really untouchabel but if you trade him this year it makes no sense unless you are blowing it up and investing in the future, in which case trading those picks to begin with makes no sense.
We will likely start the year with CJ and Missi rounding out the starting 5. The Dejounte Murray contract is essentially dead weight this year and we have strong bench pieces in Alvarado and olynyk with questions around Hawkins and Karlo Matkovic.
I think this year's team revolves around Point Zion with potential upgrades at Point, Power Forward or Center. Zion will have the ball in his hands alot but the team could benefit from a tempo setting point guard who can defend and hit threes, or a floor spazing 4 who can rebound. Also defense first 5, either playing traditionalyl or as a floor spacer. I used to think we needed the unicorn type at the 5, but if Zion will be initiating offense more then its less necessary.
So what deals might be out there for those peices given the needs.

Lauri for Murray, filler, some combination of those assets.

That's the basis of a trade for a Top 25-30 player. That 2027 1st is super good.

Scottie Barnes' doesn't fit, but if:
1 - Some team wants him more than the Pels
2 - They have stuff the Pels would want for this package
3 - Giannis is down to go to the Raptors then a 4-way trade might make sense
Format:
Team X: Barnes
Raptors: Giannis
Bucks: NOP #7, Their 2026+2027 picks back, Raptors #9, 50M in salary
Pels: Team X stuff
and fill it in however you like.

Is that enough for Ja or Sabonis?

Sabonis next to Zion, Jones and Murphy is pretty interesting.

This sounds like a perfect package to trade for if you're angling for Giannis.

Honestly that’s my preferred trade. I know some folks might not see it, but I think this could be a killer lineup, especially if you can keep CJ. Pairing Zion with 3 “oh crap” shooters with the ability to play both big and small. It puts a lot of pressure on Missi and it’s a little light on ball handling but otherwise pretty strong.
You start Zion, Trey Murphy, Herb, Lauri and Missi. Play small with CJ in for Missi, or switch Zion for CJ for the games he’s out.
I really like the idea.

Right? Pretty good package to angle for for a third team looking to get assets for Giannis.

If you want a Point who can space the floor well…how about Quickley?
#7 + Dejounte contract
for
Quickley
I dunno if either team loves it, but I can see both benefiting from it. Raps probably add something like a 2nd.

If Giannis goes on the block,
Sengun, Green
for
CJ, Herb, Bucks 26 and 27

Oh the Raps add a 2nd, then sure IQ is definitely worth pick 7 more than Murray.
The Raptors are the not the solution to every problem. Especially not when they appear to just be here to steal value again. Murray is a bad contract. IQ is too though. Any difference between them is not your team gets pick 7 their team gets some 2nd.

MIL sends: Portis, PatC, AJ Green
MIL receive: Murray and KO into MLE + 26 swap extinguushed
MIL buys one year of tanking for taking on salary
BOS sends: KP + White
BOS receive: #7 + Clarkson
CJM + PatC + Pacers 26 for Sexton and Clakson
Portis into some team MLE, GSW for example
NOP end up with KP and White and Sexton
KP/Missi
Zion/TMIII
Herb/TMIII
White/Hawkins
Sexton/Alvarado/Green
This leaves the 27 1st, which is very valuable because it's best of MIL/NOP.

Murray contract for IQ I would have the pick compensation as 7 + future first with protection (top 5?) for 9.

Re: Best offer for 7th pick and Bucks 26 and 27 (swap)
Portland might be interested in Barnes, can give the Bucks control over the 28, 29 and 30 picks and have plenty of ending contracts (Ayton, Simons, Thybulle, Timelord). I imagine the Blazers would also prefer for Giannis to go to the East rather than OKC, Houston or San Antonio if they are going to be facilitating a trade. That said, I would guess the Blazers would rather get Jaylen Williams than Scottie Barnes if they are going to be facilitating a Giannis deal.Ell Curry wrote:Scottie Barnes' doesn't fit, but if:

Lauri and Sexton for Murray, CJM, 2026 first (with Mil swap rights) 2027 swap (better of Mil/NOP for second worst of Utah/LAL/Minn/Cleveland)
NOP keeps 7 and drafts Fears? Sexton fills CJM’s role and helps keep them under the tax.
Utah looks for the third team for CJM and hopes DJM is a healthy small-asset in 12 months..

IQ is not a bad contract. It's a flat contract at $32.5, which goes out until 2029. You can say that he's overpaid for 2025, but that contract is designed to get more attractive each year. We're about to see guys like Chris Braun get contracts that start at $30M and go up, according to Windhorst. When trading for a player, you don't just look at one year, but the whole contract and player age. By August, people will be singing a different tune. Bookmark this.
I agree that offer was unfair. But Murray is negative value, and IQ is not.

Oh good we agree the offer was unfair. And thanks for the tip at looking at the entire contract. I wouldn't have thought of that.
