You need precision to beat OKC.

The Celtics style of play is the opposite of precision.

Joe needs to make changes if the Cs are to win a chip again.

How in the **** do you let Nesmith go and sign a bum like Hauser? Should have kept Nesmith.

Is it safe to say that, what Golden State created and changed the game with so many 3s that for a while Celtics had similar offense. But style of play is changing where a solid big man is needed, where you need slashes that can finish under the rim....you also need guys like Rip Hamilton or someone who shoots and scores from different angles on the floor and is good at those 10-15 footers, bunnies etc. .

The way Celtics played is simply not sustainable in the long run. And what bothers me is that the Celtics STILL dont have that true, go to guy that can penentrate the defense and finish under the rim. When I watch Tatum dribble and drive to the basket, it just lacks that explosivness, proper motion, the way ball leaves his hands....is not on elite level...same with Jaylen Brown.....

Finding these type of players is very hard.

How am I supposed to enjoy watching those games when SGA only gets 15 FTAs attempts for flinging himself into defensive players ? Won't watch the WCF until they bump that up to 25 at least.

GS drafted the best three point shooter in the history of the game, paired him with Klay.

They also stuck with double big lineups, their big men were not good 3 point shooters, and they gave a ton of minutes to Iggy who also was not a good three point shooter.

I think that Steph personally has had a huge impact on how players view the offensive game, but GS' dynasty teams valued ball movement & physical defense as much or more than the three ball. They typically weren't even top 3 in the league in terms of 3PAs per game, their 2018 championship team ranked 16th.

The year of Steph's first ring - they took 27 threes per game, and averaged 27.4 assists per game on 40.8 FGs.

Us? This season? 48.2 threes per game, 26.1 assists on 41.6 FGs.

Nesmith was traded for Brogdon and Brogdon was traded for Jrue.

Celtics would not have gotten Jrue if not for the Nesmith trade.

Golden state was hardly a 3 point team. They always took more 2 point shots by a long stretch . They were always balanced inside and outside.

In hindsight, i still would keep Nesmith.

You’d rather have him over a chip? I wouldn’t take anyone on this team or the NBA, over the chip. You can imagine we could have had the opportunity for it with him, but the reality is we won it through trading him. With hindsight tho? It’s too hard to win a chip to want to go back with hindsight and choose a player over one.

Not over a chip, i know Jrue was a piece to the chip but we also had White and we steamrolled through the playoffs against banged up teams. I'm keeping Nesmith.

Since the draft lottery was instituted in 1985, every NBA champion had their lottery pick as part of their roster. That will continue to be true this year unless the Knicks win it all. Though Mitch Robinson (picked 36th) is playing like a top 10 pick.

EDIT: My bad. The 2019 Raptors, 2020 Lakers, and 2021 Bucks may have been exceptions. Too lazy to look up.

Ross closest with JVal and Greg Monroe in the top 10 though Val was traded and I can’t remember about Monroe. Lakers lbj obvi and Bucks had Brook Lopez.

Bucks and Raps though surprisingly low draft picks on them.

I meant lottery pick by the team that won the title so Monroe, Lebron, and Brook don't qualify. So homegrown talent. Half point for JVal lol.

The Pacers have 2 D White type players in Andrew Nembhard and Sheppard. Pass. shoot, create and make totally High IQ decisions. Obviously not as good as D White and especially on defense. But just watching them and noting that they were both late first-2nd Rd picks is proof that drafting the right players matters so much.

So 1 minute after posting this, Reggie Miller says the same thing 8-) almost.. Calls Andrew Nembhard the "short version of D White.
