Nuggets Believe 'A Lot Of Our Answers Are Internal Right Now'

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri May 23, 2025 3:06 am

The Denver Nuggets parted ways with both their head coach and general manager before the start of the playoffs, but they have since elevated an assistant coach to head coach and may do the same with their interim general manager. When it comes to their roster, Josh Kroenke similarly believes the Nuggets could get back to title contention again without major changes to their core players.

Kroenke elevated David Adelman to head coach on a permanent basis the same day as he addressed the media following Denver's playoff exit after a seven-game series in the second round to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“I think a lot of our answers are internal right now," said Kroenke. "With where we are from a roster standpoint, we have guys locked into contracts. We’re going into a coaching transition. And to be frank, that’s a huge change. Huge change. … DA’s philosophy, how he might use these guys slightly differently, there’s gonna be a lot of big changes throughout our organization already.”

The Nuggets struggled to generate consistent production outside of Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon and Christian Braun. There were major inconsistencies with Russell Westbrook and Michael Porter Jr.

Made the wrong decisions, but definitely not frugal. Two max contracts (Jokic/Murray) with two supporting players making 20+ (Gordon/MPJ). If they didn’t extend Murray, they very well could’ve use him as an expiring for some of the 2nd apron teams out there.

Not frugal? They let all the depth walk.. Want to know why kcp sucks right now on Orlando.. Teams only have to cover him on the 3pt line he would still be great on the nuggets as would Bruce.. With that depth would they have won the last two 7 game series absolutely

They don't have the bird rights to Bruce Brown, the most they could offer is one of the exceptions which is nowhere near Indiana's offer. KCP is fresh off averaging 8 points in the postseason with negative metrics across in the 2024 postseason, there's no reason to give him a contract over 20 million.

They are in the brink of the 2nd apron because of their spending/handing out unreasonable contracts to MPJ, Murray and Nnaji, so I don't understand your point?
