One angle I’m considering.. if the Giannis sweepstakes turns into a “proven player + picks” bidding war, Morey could attach Maxey, George, or even Embiid’s contract, then flip the 3rd pick into two or three first-rounders to strengthen the offer.

Why PHI:

Why CHI:
1) They don't think they'll get anyone worthwhile at #12, trade it to get a very likely top 5 pick next year
2) Expiring contracts that could be flipped to a contender

Why NOP:
1) They love Ace Bailey or Harper or someone else at #3, morgtage their 2026 pick to trade up
2) Allows them to retool for future, while adding talent to compete (Murray, Murphy, PG, Zion, Collins)

So at work I am getting moved to a new team for a short while which got me thinking. How much is a title worth.

Team A is a contender but they need someone like Maxey to make them a true contender.

Team B: Has a Maxey and is willing to lend it to team A for the playoffs or 1/2 the season on the stipulation that if they do a trade. Team B trades Maxey back to team A after the season/playoffs are over. Team A gets to keep some 1/2 of the draft picks, But if Team B breaks Maxey then they have to keep him or it's up to the discretion of Team A.
Break mean MCL or some other type of injury.

The initial trade could be something like Maxey for 4-5 unprotected first round picks plus fillers to fill out the salary cap. Would something like this work?

Also without their top player Team A has a legitimate chance to "tank" and get a higher lottery pick and still have their star back next season. Your star gets the chance to win a title. But he may like it so much over at Team B that he forces a trade. Well I guess that could also be written into the language of the trade. Player forces a trade to team B then team B has to start the bidding process at the 4-5 first round picks.

You about to get a ring with this new team?

Also, I can't quote anything that says you can't do that, but I can't imagine that's allowed.

I’d do this in a heartbeat as well. Get two young prospects instead of one. Even if Jabari never becomes an all-star, I think he does a lot of things well. Hopefully doesn’t cost too much to extend though.

Edit: thankfully, I think we'll have a ton of options to trade out of 3. I also really like the Brooklyn option if they fall in love with Ace. Is getting Cam Johnson and turning our 2027 1st into a swap getting greedy? Lol. #3/Oubre/Drummond/Gordon for #8/Johnson/2027 1st swap.

Keegan I know can play without trying to be SuperCoolBeas. And there's still upside there.

I just cant with Bailey. I do not see a real NBAer there. And I am kinda concerned that Morey is not going to get an offer he deems sufficient for 3 and so he takes Bailey because he "fits the need" and is in the "right tier".

As for McCain, he stunned me frankly with his skill level. But I still have the same concerns about his lack of athleticism and if it still ends up biting him in the long run despite his skill.
