Of course it's not only Chisholm who will influence the decisions.

But if he's the majority share holder then he's the most influential.

Some of you are just overblowing the narrative that Chisholm is not that rich.

I’m not talking about his overall wealth but if you go back through the whole thread my takes on the amount of $ he put into the team were in fact way ahead of things

I don't disagree with you.

My only issue is the narrative that Chisholm is not that rich, so that's the reason why he will not keep the roster intact.

And the sale is a done deal, unless there will be legal issues that the court needs to get involved.

It has been reported that Chisholm has complied with the requirements needed per NBA rules.

So this is going to be official in a week or so and will not drag into the off-season.

Himmelsbach:

According to industry sources, the Celtics’ sale process continues to push forward as planned, with commitments from minority investors being finalized and likely to be set within the next week or two. But the sale will not be complete until the NBA’s board of governors approves the deal, which likely won’t happen until June or July.

A group led by Bill Chisholm in March agreed to purchase the Celtics at a valuation of $6.1 billion. Chisholm has since been working to secure financing, a fairly standard sequence of events in a deal such as this one, but a league source said the bid is now fully subscribed.

Recent reports suggested that Sixth Street and Chisholm might test the NBA regulations and seek a pact that allows the firm to own more than 20 percent of the team, but league sources said that was never expected to take place.

In the coming weeks, the names of new minority investors likely will be revealed, and the group likely will have a local flair. A source familiar with the sale process said it was important to Chisholm to offer existing owners an opportunity to remain with the team, as well as to continue to establish connections with other local business leaders. Although it has not been finalized, sources suggested that a high-profile name or two from the Boston sports scene could become a minority owner, too.

Well assuming the Celtics get eliminated and aren't able to contend next season with Tatum out for most of it, do these dim prospects make it more or less likely for the owners to shed salary this offseason?

Do they move KP and Jrue if they don't win the ring this season and are less likely to win next season?

Or do they keep the current roster, trying to make the team as competitive as possible for next season while Tatum rehabs?

The new guy thought he was buying a cricket team...

His family is worth $16 Billion.

When the Celtics build a new Garden, he can provide all the steel...

Not liking this. Sure, they are unbelievably rich but what Arcelor is doing in Europe in steel industry sector is really poor practice...

Buying steel mills practicaly for nothing and then extorting states for money otherwise shutting the steel mills down...

Bumped to remind myself to get back to this when I have time.

Anyone else looking at this a little differently after the Lakers sale?

Very nice to have a owner who's first order of business is to dismantle the championship roster and cut salary.

I'm sure it's a one time thing

Lakers sale seems like an overpay but speculation is that they're being financed by Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund.

So is the NBA about to be corrupted by oil money as European football has been corrupted?

Celtics got really lowered payroll fairly easily. However, the players they got back are unlikely to have the impact which Jrue and KP had during that championship season.

However, team has "flexibility" for when Tatum is ready to return.

But it's interesting to hear that they are listening to offers for Brown and White. Don't they think that when Tatum is back, they'd be right back among the top contenders?

Because a year ago, the talk was about a dynasty, with the top players still well under 30. They could get a boatload of draft assets but for what, to try to build a championship team 10 years from now?

Gary Washburn:

It’s believed that soon-to-be governor Bill Chisholm will look into the construction of a new arena since the Celtics do not own TD Garden.

Do you really think the moves so far, given Tatums injury are a bad idea. I think any front office worth their salt would make similar moves in the same situation .
