The way Deuce and Mitch gel with our starters, it would be very difficult decision to trade them for any sort of upgrades.

We'll have the taxpayer MLE of $5.7 million. That will probably be just enough to spend on one player.

I think our biggest need is getting a tall wing who compliments OG and Mikal so they don't have to play 40 minutes a piece every game.

2nd biggest need is an upgrade over Cam Payne at back-up point guard.

We need a microwave scorer also off the bench. Somehow the Pacers found Nesmith off Boston. So not impossible we could find someone.

I am wondering if there is a way the Knicks could move some pieces to get Cam Whitmore.

OG for Dillon Brooks, Landale and Cam Whitmore works. We could throw in a 2nd if needed. Hinges on whether Dillon Brooks can be a good citizen. 8-)

Do you think Thibs would play him? My concern would be that he would end up like Cam Reddish (who didn't work out for the Blazers or Lakers either, so Thibs was probably right about him)

That’s actually a good point and a good comparison. Taking that into consideration I actually think it would have to not be a lot to get him or the FO having a honest belief a change in scenery and maybe being in an environment with vets could help him mature.

Though yeah that “Cam Reddish Redux” is a legitimate concern.

I actually think Whitmore is more talented than Reddish but based on the rumors in Houston he has a maturity issue or he doesn’t like Ime style. Like in the article Ime was saying he needs to be better at defense and then compared him to Eason, Thompson, and FVV all good defenders.

Serious qs. Would you do a KAT for Giannis trade?
I know we love to hate on KAT, but he spaces the floor well with him.
If we get giannis, the floor spacing would be horrible as both Giannis and Brunson operate in the paint

As much as we hate on KAT, he’s complemented Brunson incredibly. Would you guys do the KAT for giannis trade if Giannis hypothetically asks to come to NY?

Yes. Giannis is a top-4 player in the league. Towns is a top-20 player. When you combine a top-4 player with a top-12 player (Brunson) your a true contender.

I think you would have to do it even though we'd have to include more than just KAT.

Giannis and Brunson are two guys that could actually bend/break that stifling OKC defense.

A lot of the MIN fans on RGM don't seem thrilled with DDV. Maybe we can steal him back this summer. Would give us a strong 8 that go toe to toe with anyone and push Hart to the bench to be the super 6th man.

We got to trade KAT. He cost too much for his production and flaws but we also got to get a new second scoring option.

I don’t know if Giannis is realistic.

It can happen if Giannis forces the trade to NY. If he refuses to sign any long-term deal with the new team basically it is a 2 year deal.

Gotta also see if Milwaukee wants a total rebuild or a quick tooling. KAT might not be in their long term strategy.

it's not. he's too old and it might not work but go get kd if you can. at least i can trust him to bring it on offense and not destroy the defense. might be the only trade you can make.

1. Replace Thibs with Dan Hurley
2. Trade KAT and Hart and picks for Giannis and Portis
3. Extend Mitch Rob
4. Extend Mikal
5. Sign Chris Paul with Tax MLE

knicks have no dead weight contracts next season so they will have to move one of their top 6 guys. after that are just 2 mil or less deals.

mitch expiring at 13 mil.
mikal expiring at 25 mil.

I have absolutely zero grasp on 25-26 Knicks cap table at the moment just throwing it into the ether

This would take some creativity from Cleveland getting below the 2nd apron by moving off DeAndre Hunter as well as including Isaac Okoro to a 3rd team to make the trade legal -

OG Anunoby for Jarrett Allen and Max Strus.

Cleveland breaks up the Mobley/Allen thing and adds an elite wing defender who can also spade the floor.

NY turns Anunoby into a rim protector to play next to KAT and a shooter next to Brunson

Brunson-Strus-Bridges-Towns-Allen
McBride-Hart-Robinson
Taxpayer MLE to round out a 9 man rotation

Knicks have no awful contracts. KAT and OG are expensive but good players and you can work around the contracts. Problem is the roster as a whole is too expensive, has too many flaws and no path to build it out.
