Alejandro Garnacho Set for Manchester United Exit After Snub In Final

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri May 23, 2025 5:15 pm

Alejandro Garnacho is increasingly likely to leave Manchester United this summer following his bench role in Wednesday\'s Europa League final defeat, sources told ESPN. United and Garnacho\'s representatives plan to meet in coming days to discuss his potential departure during the transfer window.

The Argentina international has grown frustrated with his limited role under head coach Ruben Amorim. Garnacho was particularly upset at receiving just 20 minutes during the 1-0 loss to Tottenham in Bilbao. Sources indicate he is also dissatisfied with how Amorim handled his selection situation for the final.

United are prepared to negotiate Garnacho\'s sale if a realistic offer materializes. The club previously received a January bid from Napoli, while Chelsea has also expressed interest in the winger.

Transfer Interest Building

Garnacho\'s representatives expect additional interest from Premier League clubs and Saudi Arabian teams. United\'s willingness to facilitate a summer move reflects their broader squad restructuring plans under Amorim.

The club aims to offload Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Antony during the upcoming window. Selling Garnacho, who qualifies as an academy graduate under Profit and Sustainability Rules, would provide significant funds for Amorim\'s squad overhaul.

United\'s financial position came under renewed scrutiny after missing out on Champions League qualification worth approximately £100 million following the Europa League final defeat.

Despite recent tensions, Garnacho enjoyed his best individual season with 11 goals in 57 appearances across all competitions. The 20-year-old started 14 consecutive matches between March 6 and May 8, including crucial Europa League knockout rounds.

However, after missing a key chance in the semifinal second leg against Athletic Club, Garnacho found himself relegated to substitute appearances in the final league matches against West Ham and Chelsea, before being benched for Wednesday\'s final in Bilbao.
