Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion Part 8
Masai likes guys with freakish measurements - he desperately wanted Giannis and SGA at the draft.
Is Rasheer his next target?
Who else has freakishly good measurements in the first round?

So many good bigs in this draft - we should be able to solve our front court issues.
If we miss out on Maluach - Yang, Condon, Sorber, Newell, etc., are all solid options.

Freakish measurements have to also match the skill level....Not saying Rasheer is not skilled but you can't just draft a freakish measurements guy esp in the top 9 and expect top 9 value in return unless they have the skills/game to match....I like Rasheer but i am sure Masai will go BPA even if the measurements are not freakish....We don't want to be the team that drafts a Salaun type who looks years away from being anything at all...

yea
the closer you are to picking in the top 5, the more the freakish length needs to match real skill
you take those chances with less skill later on in the draft - like we did with siakam, OG, bruno etc

Siakam and OG had shown actual ability though. Bruno is the outlier. I just don't see Masai making that kind of mistake again regardless of draft position. Anyone we draft will have a body of work even if it's small. And yes, I believe we'll also prioritize positional size given we've always done that.

I still don't get the hype. He was measured one of the worst outside of wingspan and standing reach.
I unno who's above is taking him, I'm hoping he falls to 9 and if he is there at 9 the Raptors will select him for a myriad of reasons
No one is taking him above 9th, and again, why is the Raptors taking him when Kalkbrenner in the later draft would measure similarly.
What exactly is Maluach better than Kalkbrenner? Do you know?

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion Part 8

Reddits starting to turn on Bryant....I do wonder if the hype is just hype and based on highlight package rather than his actual game/skills....I think hes still young but to me hes the ultimate role player pick....I think hes a career 9-12 PPG guy with solid defense....I do agree hes prolly not worth a top 10 pick since hes prolly not going to maintain that value but a late lotto or in the teens would be better value....I think better players are on the board than to take a swing on a guy with limitations on his offensive game...
Would have to take a really rare curve as a player in the NBA to reach the level we all hope for....Because we only seen him on low usage...He could look worse if he gets more touches we have no idea...

Man there are quite a few prospects in the 14-20 range that are super intriguing I wish there was a way we could get a second pick but I doubt we make any trades during the draft.

Weaseling out of things is important to learn; it’s what separates us from the animals … except the weasel

Can't believe the draft is still over a month away...
Brutal. Torturous.

Same reason as Maluach, and Bryant actually played better than Maluach on defense and shoot better from 3s. Both are high end role players. As compare to Essengue, Bryant is shooting better 3s than him as well.
Personally, I think the shooting upside of Byrant is near Knueppel level, so I have him higher.

Essengue has a 9’3 standing reach
I’m guessing he’s our pick at 9

Dude actually going as far as starting an anti-Carter Bryant campaign on Redditt and then reposting it here.

That’s would be a Tidjane Salaun-level blunder of a lottery pick. Ppl complain about CMB’s lack of a 3pt shot but happily ignore Essengue’s poor shooting (and horrible defense).

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion Part 8
Masai has his work cut out for him. Either he just sees who falls from the perceived top 9, and just picks them cause they are the last one left. Or he basically has to gamble, guys like Fleming and Coward are mocked in the 20s some places, I doubt there will be much of a consensus for picks 9-20.
He's praying Maluach falls to us right now. No way he wants to select Kon and create a logjam with the last two first round picks and another guy he traded a first for. He would be forced to make moves I doubt he wants to make.
People want a trade down, but we just brought in 5 rookies last year, I don't see us bringing in 3 more. The Gradey for a mid first ideas make absolutely no sense, dude was picked 13th and would go top 10 in a redraft, why would Masai gamble with someone at 16 or 20 for him? In hopes to balance the lineup with an unproven rookie.
The skill players, Jak/Kon and Jase will all be roasted on D day 1. The long bois Rasheer/Bryant/Coward and Essengue are all some form of raw or perceived roll players that are mocked all over the first round, who knows if he will get value picking one 9th when another goes 25th.

Patrick englebrednt and curtis crawford were there. Lead scouts for the raps.
