Julius Randle Vows To 'Figure It Out' After 6-Point Performance In Game 2 Loss To Thunder

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri May 23, 2025 5:20 pm

Julius Randle struggled to his worst playoff performance Thursday night, scoring just six points on 2-of-11 shooting as the Minnesota Timberwolves fell to Oklahoma City 118-103 in Game 2. The Timberwolves now trail the Western Conference finals series 2-0 heading home to Target Center.

Randle missed all three of his three-point attempts and committed four turnovers against the Thunder's swarming defense. Chris Finch benched the power forward for the entire fourth quarter as Minnesota's deficit grew insurmountable.

The performance marked a stark contrast to Randle's dominant postseason run that helped Minnesota reach the conference finals. He had averaged 24 points per game while shooting 55 percent from the field and 39 percent from three-point range entering the series.

Edwards Carries Offensive Load

Anthony Edwards responded with 32 points, nine rebounds and six assists while committing zero turnovers. The All-Star guard attacked the basket more aggressively after a jump-shot heavy Game 1 performance that netted 27 points.

Edwards' improved aggression wasn't enough to overcome Randle's offensive struggles against Oklahoma City's balanced defensive scheme. The Thunder held Minnesota to 103 points after allowing 117 in the series opener.

Randle acknowledged the Thunder's defensive pressure affected his rhythm throughout the contest. The veteran forward spent too much time standing rather than creating movement and screening opportunities.

"They're going to swarm you. So I've got to get myself into actions, setting screens, on the move. I think I was just like standing and spectating a little too much today," Randle said.

Minnesota's championship hopes depend heavily on Randle regaining his playoff form alongside Edwards. The Timberwolves must respond in Game 3 Saturday to avoid falling into a commanding 3-0 series deficit.

"I'll figure it out. I'm not too worried about it," Randle said.

Warriors always brings out the best of these players. Draymond says it and a lot of people notices too, when other teams play the warriors they seemed to be on a mission to shoot lights out against them. I mean, Wolves had uncontested 3 point shot all night long and nothing was going in. They shot 48% from the 3pt shot against the Warriors and throwing bricks now. Again, I'm talking about wide open 3s that became a lay up for them against the Warriors and all of a sudden not falling for them now.

Ridiculous Randle played great against the lakers as well and Randle played great in game 1 against okc.. OKC have the best defence though and most versatile making it harder on players like randle your point is silly GSW weren't good enough.. They wouldn't beat OKC either.. If they can make another swing in the off season and say get giannis then hey they are on..

This is some sad stretching here.
