He wasn't the 3pt shooter that he is now, so wasn't worth the max.

He’s probably very close to the same 3pt shooter he always was. He’s just:

-getting set up better because he has a better playmaker than he’s ever had (Hali)

-he’s taking his highest % of 3pa from the corner since 2018/19 season

-he’s been taking approximately 0% of his 3pt attempts after 3+ dribbles since he’s been in IND.

-on the Raptors he was taking around 10-15% of his 3’s after 3+ dribbles (the most difficult types of 3’s in the league)

He may have improved slightly but by most accounts he’s just getting better quality 3pt attempts.

Good point. Heck, if he did specifically only want the Pacers well it kinda seems he knew what he was doing. They look finals bound.

Yes they did lots of them. They're pretty quiet now nowhere to be seen or heard from.

A lot of the noise about Siakam also came from other team's fans but that's expected because they don't watch the raptors so they don't know anything. What's crazy is that Portland had Dame so they could've easily put a package for Siakam. They could've been this Indy team instead of where they are now.

I don't buy that Siakam only wanted Indy, he only wanted to get paid the max. Any team that was willing to fork out the dough could've had him.

he did say he wasnt extending in atlanta which nixed that deal.
I think he was still holding out hope that the raptors were going to give him the supermax. Once it became obvious Masai wasn't going to do that, he went out looking for his best option. It's a shame the supermax eligibility cost us our homegrown star.

Was Atlanta willing to give him the full term? I can't recall.

None of this matters once the Pacers meet the Thunder/Wolves. East is terrible. Im not afraid of the Pacers come next year.

See avatar. Nothing to apologize for, I was a top Siakam supporter on this board even when tWo villified his game. Listen to them say it and you would think the guy has 0 bag and can't lead a team

I don't think we have anyone on this roster who can be on the level of Prime Siakam, I'm sorry to say. This board was unbearable with the hate against the old core

Get ready for TRUE mediocrity, Siakam was papering over a lot of flaws, we're gonna see now

...and there's nothing to apologize about. We didn't have the depth or a player at the level of Hali at the center of it who also was the guy that hit all those big shots to have the Pacers where they are. Without Hali, the Pacers aren't doing jacksh*t.

I love Siakam, this was a career game for him. His efficiency has gone nutso! And I'm super impressed by his 3p improvement.

That said...IND has had one of the luckiest playoff runs in the past couple of years. Siakam doesn't get to this game without multiple crazy comebacks, thanks to the team play + random Hali heroics. IND depth is similar to our TOR depth in 18-19, and Siakam is kind of playing a similar role. He's Avg'ing 20/6/3/1 (after this scoring outburst) in these playoffs, albeit on better ranged efficiency, which is not a #1 option statline. That's a #2-3 statline. He avg'd 19/7/3/1 in 2018-19....almost exactly the same line. So no, I will not apologize for my continued stance, though I WILL admit, his 3p development has made him a more viable #2 option moving forward.

Until he proves otherwise, Ingram has negative value or close to it. Ochai is fine, and Walter looks promising, but I don’t know how much either one of them moves the needle.

Unless JKW blows up, the most favourable interpretation of the deal is that it was… fine.

Ingram has to return to All-Star status for it to be good.

He scored 30+plus points in his first NBA finals game on DPOY Draymond; and to this day you hear "Masai stuck to those guys for too long  ".

With all those Maple Leafs fan around here, you would think they would understand this even more than other fans. Looking at the great regular season players like Matthews and Marner .....then playoffs come around

FVV takes over a closing games of NBA Finals and you still hear "Masai stuck to those guys for too long  "
Masai was like "If I can add KD between those 2 without stripping my team dry, I can almost guarantee another LOB"
If only Udoka would have accepted :(

I had almost forgot that Pascal had scored 50 at MSG already. It was such a showscase yesterday..such a reminder (3xAll-Star Pascal, All-Star with 2 teams!) so proud of him, we witnessed his entire growth.

The fact Siakam is excelling and the team is succeeding in Indiana and the Raptors needed to move on from the Siakam/FVV/OG core are not mutually exclusive

Both Indiana and Toronto are in better places than they were 18 months ago (same with Houston and NYK).

I hope people don’t live their lives with the same anger and rear view thinking as they post on RealGM

Onwards and upwards Raptors and Pacers (and Rockets and Knicks)

Return to Toronto Raptors
