Lauri Trade (sry its POR but better than most)

Post#1 » by nolaPELSfan » Sat May 24, 2025 9:37 pm

Pels: Sexton, Kris Murray, Cody Williams, Utah#5

Jazz: Herb, Grant, Olynyk, Thybulle, #7, #11

Blazers: Lauri

Simons/Sharpe/Avdija/Lauri/Clingan
Scoot/Rupert/Camara/Walker/Ayton
Banton/Cissoko/Minaya/Timelord/Reath

Keyonte/Juzang/Herb/Grant/Filipowski
Springer/Thybulle/Sensabaugh/Olynyk/Kessler
Collier/Svi/KJ/Hendricks/Tsheibwe
+ #7 & #11

#21,#43,#53 they have already

Sexton/CJ/Murphy/Zion/Missi
Elf/Boston/Reeves/Kris/Karlo
Jose/Hawkins/Cody/Keon
+ #5

Portland does it to get a go-to scorer to stabilize and deepen the their rotation, and hopes to elevate their punching weight for next year thereby gaining more meaningful experience for their young team.

Jazz do it to get great role players to help round out their team and get more bites in the lotto, getting solid value and letting Lauri move on

Pels do it to move up 2 spots to #5 and to get another ball handler/scorer and get a younger timeline. Though it hurts to trade Herb it feels like a good time to capitalize, and this is decent enough value unless he was to be included in a packaged move for a star, which none seem imminent.

It’s more palatable than other Lauri to Blazers, but I don’t love spending $50M per year on him for 4 years to be our 3rd forward. I just think he is the wrong target for Portland, so I’d rather take a cheaper swing at a star at #11.

Fasho. Anyone you like at #11? or what position do the Blazers need a lotto pick of most?

I’m changing on the daily these days. Recently I’ve been hoping Jakucionis falls to 11. I’m a sucker for big point guards, plus I think point is our weakest position. All we have at point is Scoot and when Simons plays out of position. I guess Deni runs point at times too, but he’s still guarding forwards when he does.

Portland's pick at 11 is likely from a group of 4-5 guys that are mid lottery players.

Draft after 4 is a big group of guys of more or less at the same level for guys at 26 might be better
than the guy picked at 6. I just hope whoever Portland picks at 11 is a good fit with Deni, Camara, DC,
Scoot and Sharpe. Preferably a player with some length, who can handle the ball, defend more than
one position and shoot.

Im a no on this...
I personally have Lauri as a top 10 negative contact in the league... (Grant is too).

Im not giving up the #11 pick to take on a more expensive and longer contract...

Pass for POR.

POR needs a legit first option. LM is not that.
