His father is an assistant coach and his Godfather is the team’s GM, so he’s kind of indirectly benefitting from that, otherwise there’s no proof to show it.

This also suggests Jalen has been "promised" a post-career role with the team if he wishes.

In the current CBA, building contenders is a tightrope act. Any of your top 3 players taking any kind of discount under the max amount is MASSIVE for your ability to build a talented roster.

I think of Denver, who gave the maximum allowed to MPJ and Murray, and then basically had to give up on roster building outside of developing young guys and hoping to strike gold off the trash heap.

Boston maxing out Jaylen Brown on a stacked team put them an expiration date on the championship window.

In New York, the contracts of OG and Towns are albatrosses. They still need to figure out a new contract for Bridges. Jalen Brunson taking a discount is the only reason this team is held together.

It's pretty hard to not pay your own players the max amount allowed, because that's where the negotiation starts. Anytime a team does it, it's a serious competitive advantage.

Paying non-MVP calibre players above 50m a year really hamstrings your team.

Because he’s a bench player and mostly plays against other bench players.

He could easily start for more than half the league. Averaged 14 PPG for 6M AAV

I take Deni and his contract over Reaves. Cheaper, longer, and he plays both sides of the game.

Best contract in NBA is Deni Avdija’s and it’s not close. Great player on the rise as his salary goes down.

Shai's is the best for a few more years. After that it's pretty bloody good.

Payton Pritchard is on $7.5 million a year for the next 3 years too lol.
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

Rookie contracts are usually disqualified from these discussions, because the top rookies who become stars quickly are obviously the best contracts. Luka was arguably a top 5 player for two years on his rookie contract.

Did I seriously just read 3 pages of this thread with no mention of Jalen Williams? 3rd team All NBA player who made less than. $5 million this season?
Brunson's contract is outstanding for the Knicks and certainly is at or near the best.

He's still on his rookie deal it was supposedly outside of that

I agree that should be the parameter, But people are listing Wemby and not Jalen?
