If Minnesota plays this type of defense more consistently they'll win the West. This game is inflated, but I expected great defense from them all series

There was a wire report that kuminga and the warriors are both willing to work out a sign and trade.

The constant chatter about the refs in the OKC/Minnesota series is a major bummer to me. I was looking forward to SGA vs. Ant but all anyone wants to talk about is the refs.

Re: NBA General Discussion: 24-25
More of the same at the moment.
The defense of the Knicks is a disaster against a team like the Pacers, maybe they can come back from this and make me eat my words but their lineups are exploitable as hell. They cannot give switches because you end up with the big on Haliburton and that gives Siakam a mismatch, but they cannot give PnR either, the effective lineup with the double big doesn't give enough offense either.
I think they need to move on from Hart or Robinson, You need a double big that can cover the paint and provide some minimum offense if you're gonna play KAT and Brunson together.
They also need to fire Thibs, but that is not gonna happen

If I'm NJ my plans would be to attempt to get Kuminga and see if I can fit in Grimes. They could develop those 2 while pulling off a tank job the next 2 years searching for a top 2 pick ala Toronto or Utah

hate to do the anual overreact to playoff results but both of the teams currently up rn
all don't have one guy dominate the ball. The days of one guy carrying solo is done.
I hope that gets through to certain members of this franchise
(it won't)

How TF did New York choke this away? I get it tho...They left it all in the Boston series.
*edit....They came back and won. They'll be ok.

Yeah, i think this is another thing teams are just starting to do. More pressure on ball defense to avoid 3s has led to the necessity of almost all of your lineup being able to, at least, put the ball on the floor.
This is another thing the Knicks lack and that the Pacers, Boston and OKC have.
Even if the Knicks can get over the Pacers i just don't see how they don't get murdered by OKC, is a massive mismatch

If you are facing bad defense, you can get by without a good shot creator. You can just hunt bad defendersand let mid shotcreators create quality shots, run screen actions and feast on miscommunications, push the pace and feast on crossmatches (i.e Siakam scoring over Brunson; run PnR targetting KAT or Brunson)
If you are facing the Thunders’ defense, you need atleast 2 good shot creators, preferably from the perimeter. One is to load up on the strongside then pass it to the other on the weakside to break the zone. Kind of the principle of the triangle offense back then.

The Hoops tonight guy with cowherd discussed what he finds the dominant players in the sport today to be ....35 minute mark
Essentially the physical playmaker like LeBron Luka Jokic and Steph being the dangerous movement shooter in constant motion taking defenders with him with or without the ball.
He says there's only been Steph, but guys like Murray and Tyrese give you that impact too.... They're less consistent shooting than the shooting goat, but both also add other threats to their movement. Murray can post, but Maxey is a scary down hill threat and his resets are as much to drive as to shoot. Murray gives Denver 2 of these dominant players when he's actually on and he doesn't move as much, but their system implements it for him and MPJ. Kyrie gives similar impact without as much movement as Steph or Maxey why are recent leaders in miles per game, but he has had that pairing with LeBron and Luka before. Maxey and Joel were off to a blistering start before Joel got hurt.
I said this in the draft thread this week. I prefer the off ball guy. You can dominate with more than 2 or 3 aka Steph, Klay and Durant... Where it's much more clunky with the ball dominant playmaker

"Possible" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that phrase

As another Croat, I hate to break it to you, but no. He is good in the Euroleague context, but in the NBA he would be an end of the bench guy and his ceiling would be a poor mans Kelly Oubre.

They have Cam Thomas. No need for Grimes, especially if they're keeping Cam Johnson.
