This is how you know a dude has blinders against Brunson.

Brunson had a bad game in game 3. In game 1, he was 15-25 for 43 points. In game 2, 13-27 for 36 points. The fact is, the team was letting him down in both games.

Your boy needs to do a shyt-ton more work to make up for his lack of defense, and to stop playing like a ****y. He's too used to Brunson carrying his 50 million dollar a year ass during the first two playoff series.

In game 1 he still picked up 5 bad fouls and we built the lead with him on the bench and commenced the choke when he came back. Towns was a +9 and Brunson was a -8. So he’s been better 2/3 games. Everyone got possessed with the -20 for game 2 and ignore when he’s positive in 1 and 3. Like when towns had the highest plus minus of any player on the team throughout the season. If we want to talk defense Brunson is 10x worse defender than even towns and Chanel is on the way with the impact metrics to prove it. Tell em ChannyB

Hart was heroic in the second half, completely dominated the boards.

McBride was also key - he spearheaded the run at the end of the 3rd that brought us closer.

KAT was of course exceptional in the 4th quarter. The dunk on Nembhard was tough af.

These three were the best players of the game I thought.

OG's block on Nesmith was super satisfying. And Brunson's shot over Nesmith was key as well.

Thibs did a good playing more defensive guys (Robinson, Wright) and benching Payne entirely. Also being more pragmatic about defense-for-offense (and vice versa) substitutions down the stretch.

Also interesting to see how the well defense held up in the 4th with Brunson on the bench - the tension defensively definitely comes from having both Brunson and Towns on the court, but not either one of them.

Gritty win. These teams are so close.

It was sort of the emotional equivalent of a flagrant that you / we were calling for before the game.

Towns +6 highest in starting lineup. In game 1 he was a +9 and every other starter was negative. Thibs screwed him in game 2. Our best 4th quarter stretches came with Brunson benched in games 1 and 3 and when they tried benching towns in the 4th in game 2 we didn’t do shittu. Change my mind

He's not an All-Star and All-NBA by accident.

He was arguably our best player in game 1. He was arguably our best player in game 3.

I didn't watch game 2 so it didn't happen.

So basically, 2 great games, and 0 bad games.

It's not what I see.

What I see is a team struggling on defense when both Brunson and KAT are on the floor. That's when the defense becomes really porous and hard to manage.

That is a problem and yet they are our two best offensive players.

We're also getting elite offense from the two so it's a difficult balancing act between offense and defense.

There should always be either one of them on the floor - this enables us to have an All-Star on the court for 48 minutes and to reduce the minutes overlap between the two. But the minutes will largely overlap so we'll have to make due.

Think the big problem is when you add in jHart with both of them. It's hard to overcome 3 bad defenders

I’m actually not 100% sold that the new rotations worked. We got down by 20 fast and did not show too many signs of life, Towns heroics in the 4th is what snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. And that doesn’t happen without Brunson fouling. Maybe if they win again I’ll think about it

They didn’t and it backfired. The only thing that worked was cutting Payne from the rotation and giving his minutes to Wright which was the right move. Overall the starters and the bench were getting outplayed and it took KAT putting the team on his back and willing us back to victory

To be fair, the team could’ve imploded but went to the half down 13. They then closed the gap to 10 to end the 3rd which isn’t much but they looked dead in the water and they kept fighting so I’m going to have to give Thibs and the rest of the guys credit for that.

It was the worst 3 quarters of the series. We never trailed going into the 4th in either of the previous two games. It was all KAT in the 4th and he not only erased the lead but put us up on his own. He went crazy

He is the only reason we even beat Detroit if he didn’t pull off similar heroics in game 4. Maybe they should quit freezing him out for large portions of the game. Julius Randle is also playing in the conference finals. Not sure why you don’t like good players idk. It’s not even one game he dominated in game 1

it was probably our worst game this series to be honest. but the new starting lineup was -1. which is not spectacular in any way but way better than what the old one was doing.

but i mostly agree. pretty much everyone in this game looked awful. karl exploded in the 4th and the pacers looked like they took their foot off the gas the way we did in game 1. not something you can easily replicate.

the guys on hoop collective surmised that playing brunson and towns together has been the problem and that it's best to stagger them as much as possible in this series.

I don’t think the situations are remotely comparable.

Do think it was a rough shooting game, but defensively they were able to tighten up in the 2nd half got them to play more in the half court.

But yes do agree KAT and Brunson being staggered more is best going forward.
