Mikal has two game saving defensive plays in this playoffs alone. He should be closing. His length and height make him a bit more valuable than Deuce in closing minutes tho I would consider Deuce to close games based on how well he played that specific game.

Deuce (and MItch) both close games on the defense end when Thibs calls a time out to put them in, taking Jalen and KAT out.

by closing games I mean playing crunch time. Specifically the last 3-5 minutes of games and not for just defense for offense substitutions.

I should say so far. We've seen him adjust before.

We shouldnt forget that our best run in January 2024 was with Donte and iHart and jHart was coming off the bench

This year we had Mikal who is shooting Meh at best while Donte was neck to neck with Curry last year and iHart despite being ass on defense most of the time on offense helped Brunson a lot with his passing, screens and ability to read the game

Towns can do the same but for that to happen he has to change his style of play and this is on Thibs who needs to develop a two man game between JB and KAT... that said we also need to add a bonafide SG and point (power) forward to cover for KAT defense and also run plays to free JB from those duties

Bridges, Hart, Achiuwa and three picks for Giannis

Towns / Robinson / Hukporti
Giannis / Lyles / Tucker
Anunoby / Shamet / Dadiet
Grimes / McBride / McCullar
Brunson / Wright / Kolek

Who do you take out though?

Josh is the best clutch rebounder we got. To the point where it is pretty much essential to have him out on the court because of it.
Mikal and OG are both taller AND have longer wingspans than Deuce
You still need a big out there, so you're not going to see Deuce at Center over KAT or Mitch
You can't bench Jalen either

McBride can play easily up to the 5:00 left in the 4th and if he has it going up to the last 2-3 mins

Deuce is more aggressive offensively, creates his shot better and puts alot of pressure on the Pacers defense

when KAT plays good defense we can definitely let Deuce close the games

KAT
OG
one of Hart or Bridges depending on who is playing better that given night
Deuce
JB

Pacers were 1 for 10 when Mitch was guarding them
Pacers were 6 for 16 when KAt was guarding them
Pacers were 5 for 12 when Mikal was guarding them

Pacers were 5 for 11 when OG and Hart were guarding them

much better defensive effort especially from our bigs.

I also thought Shamet/Wright/McBride contributed on that end as well even though the DFG% against number don't match it.

His defense is impactful and he has only taken 18 shots in this series so his numbers can improve significantly in a single game.

And about half of his scoring so far is from free throws which means some of those missed FGs were turned into points at the free throw line so his FG% is not as bad as you think.

He's a better scoring option than Hart with better defense so I don't see why you don't see the point.

The previous game turned around because of him, Wright and Shamet

He’s ok for bench minutes but he’s not a starter. His defense is sometimes good sometimes bad. The bad defense is what got him in foul trouble when he was just hacking. His scoring is very inconsistent and more suitable for a bench role than someone that you want to depend on in the starting lineup. Hes not a better scorer than Hart. No the game didn’t turnaround because of those guys, it turned around because of KAT carrying the whole team on his back. Plus Hart was part of that lineup so I’m not sure why you are giving them all the credit as if he wasn’t out there, hustling and playing defense. He even closed the game out and made huge plays which secured the win. He did more than those guys to help us win.

Not sure about everything else but the game was 63-78 and Deuce went on a 7-0 run to close the gap. He was instrumental in the comeback.

The comeback at the end of the 2nd quarter when it looked like they were about to blow us out the gym was just as if not even more important because it looked like they were gaining all momentum and were about to run us out the gym. It was OG and Hart who were making plays to cut the lead down from 19 to 13 going into halftime. That run was just as important to keep us within reach even after Pacers went on another run in the 3rd. Deuce still finished the game on an inefficient 2-6 fg and 1-4 shooting from 3. There were plenty of guys who contributed and Deuce wasn’t doing anything special.

Also, I think a small thing that probably happened is that chasing Mikal around in the first half sapped Haliburton later in the game. He can't hide anywhere when we got the double bigs on the floor, eventually the dam will break and Mikal will get going against him too.

We were down 15 when Deuce came in the game for OG in the 3rd with 4:26, we were down 4 when he was subbed out. He was 2-3 in the 3rd with 7 points, and kept McConnell in check.

I'm not sure why you're tying to downplay his impact, his run in the 3rd was pivotal, he led the team in scoring for that quarter in just 4 mins.
