Re: NBA Playoff Games 2025, Non-Celtics
It is not a coincidence that Thibs was forced to play more players including 9 players in double digits with minutes. And that included 2 players who have not played in this series at all.. What a shock that that was the best defensive effort. That and some help from the refs and an injury, and now the series has some life and drama.
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

Blown 20 points lead behind ice cold shooting from three against the Knicks. Not a peep about the coaching. The double standard is obvious.

True. Bad coaching game by Carlisle
But the difference is in the philosophy. While the Celtics play to get the open 3, IND game is constant movement and getting a layup, while the 3 is a by product

Break down Carlisle's coaching failures for me.
The most charitable interpretation is that it's ethnic cleansing and massive war crimes.

Lineup with Mathurin and McConnell was bad on defense and offense and cut the lead in the end of the 3rd and still started the 4th
Offense in the 4th was stagnant, played slow and a lot of iso and 1 vs 1, too many end of clock 3s, play after the Hart FTs was bad
No adjustments to the changed defense by NY in the 2nd half - after initial penetration NY clogged the paint and botched the movement+passing game which led the lowest assist number for IND in the playoff
Overall, just wander off their style of play on offense to more iso, 1vs 1 and end of clock bad shots from 3s
KAT shot some bull shots and the extender was at work, but if they continue to play their game I think they would have won

Thanks - I only caught post-game highlights so wasn't sure what prompted the turnaround.

When he plays a handful of guys and they win, what do you call it? Only when he plays others and they win is the right way? Every time something works as you say, it matters, forgetting all the times it works in the opposite. Literally won two series playing a short rotation.
Joe wins a championship with the guys playing the way he wants them to, the next season they play that way and lose, then you’re right?
NeSmith’s injury was the problem, but then he goes back out there and now it’s that they lost because Thibs played more players? So, if Nesmith didn’t get injured, pacers would have won despite the longer rotation by Thibs?
I really don’t understand and I’m not trying to be rude.
It’s cool, everybody does it. It’s probably a human thing.

In my defense I didn't watch the game. I also don't care about the Pacers.

I think the longer rotation just brought new energy, especially on defense. It was another factor - not THE factor
The adjustment by Thibs was on defense - clogging the paint after initial penetration
But the loss was on IND by not playing their game in the second half (and a bad lineup with McConnell and Mathurin). Same as the Celtics - you don't play your game - you probably lose

Nesmith's injury and being forced to play Mathurin, who has been terrible all playoffs, and Sheppard helped the Knicks big time.

Check back after Indy blows the next in identical fashion without Carlisle making any adjustments.
In any case Carlisle is by no means immune to criticism, IIRC his late game decision-making was key in Indy blowing a couple of those games against us last season.
I don't know why anyone would think Indy's failure (or any other team's) excuse ours.

Re: NBA Playoff Games 2025, Non-Celtics
OKC makes you pay every time you make a mistake.
Efficiency is the key, moving forward.
So getting back the old Tatum is not good enough.
We need a smarter and more efficient Tatum.
If we want to experience a parade again, the Celtics will have to raise their bball IQ.
The settling and chucking of 3s should be regulated, to say the least.

This OKC/Minnesota Game is a nailbiter.

Either that or refs give JT the SGA whistle.

3-1, OKC.
Only 7% come back from that.
