That is a great question which also brings up a question in my mind... Is Morey (and Nurse) really going to draft a rookie with the intention of playing/developing them? Even though it's what I want seems hard to believe, unless of course they have no choice due to injuries, hold outs, or just having no other good options at the position (like Maxey, McCain, Edwards and Bona).the_process wrote:zaz102 wrote:That's fair. Not satire. I feel quite certain Ace is a bust. Therefore taking him is equivalent to having lost the pick to OKC.
The advantage of the 3 pick is having another premium asset with which to build out the team.
I agree building around Jo is a fools errand. They need to start adding for the future.
However, he has some glaring weaknesses too and can understand why you and Morey would pick another player. Since I'm not a scout nor do I have insight to the character of these players, I'll choose to trust the process with whomever they choose.
And that is a logical and rational opinion, neither of which do I usually have
I do wonder how much Nurse is going to play the rookie, no matter who it is.

This is a stupid idea, but maybe if I throw trading Embiid into the universe Daryl will get the hint:
Embiid and 3 for Missi, Jones, McCollum, and 7
Embiid and 3 for Missi, Jones, McCollum, and 7

With Dallas having Flagg, AD and Lively... PJ Washington and Gafford could be good targets in a Oubre/Drummond/asset swap.

Re: 2025 Fantasy Trade Thread
I'm not trading out of #3 for anything but a lower lottery pick plus other pick(s).
And #35 is practically a late 1st in a deep draft. I want to keep that one to use or to pair with other possibly acquired picks to move up if Morey has a player targeted. Those four expirings could be very valuable come deadline time.

Trade #3+#35 for #5+#21 with Utah or trade #3+#35 for #6+#18 with Washington if you are not comfortable with Ace Bailey at 3

The two things Morey looks for:
- efficient scoring
- generating extra possessions
https://www.25hourideas.com/blog/lessons-learned-from-daryl-morey
Morey mentions strategies he’s looked into in order to win more games. On offense, these revolve around the two ways to improve, taking more efficient shots, or taking extra shots. To take extra shots, you need to be getting offensive rebounds or generating possessions through steals.
He also has low feel given his ast%, imagine a good defense closing out on him and he’s just gonna take that shot because he does not know how to find and get the ball to open teammates.

Great! Averaged more than 2 ORB per game ..a steal and a block.
Even on a bad team overall with mid major talent.. he was their spacer, hit 46% overall, mostly on contested shots. 44% on 66 contested 3s during the year, 46% from mid range, 61% at the rim. Had some inefficiency at the line though improved over the year massively, but isn't overall inefficient. The idea that he can swing the ball after close out is a big assumption, but what's not is his ability to attack a close out and at least efficiently get a mid range look.... The shot that stars can make

If Danny Ainge comes calling offering 5 and 21 for #3. Because he's not doing it for the chance to get Quentin Grimes (VJ) or Cam Thomas (Tre).... Hang up and draft Ace before you get Tatum'd again

53% TS%
30% 3PTr
24% FTr
69% FT%
108 ORtg (Dylan Harper is at 118, so its not the team)
3.7 OBPM
8% ast% vs 11% TO%
Numbers are very Andrew Wiggins but less rim & FT frequency.

This is the only way I would consider this deal, and draft whoever is Morey's top guy at each spot. If we're giving up #3 and McCain, they would need to pay for it by taking George. Otherwise, it's an overpay.
The Oubre, Drummond, and Gordon expirings may be very valuable come deadline time.

Feels like an insanely high valuation of Cam Johnson (who I like) to me.
To me this is a lot closer in value if you remove either McCain or #3 along with #19 on the Nets end.

Way too much to give up for Johnson. Who I am not a fan of at all! The guy hasn’t helped his team win anythin.

I think 3 and the 3' expiring contracts for CamJ, 8, and 19 is sufficient.
If they want McCain too... need to start talking about eating George and giving the '28 pick back, maybe another future pick as well.

Make Ainge throw in a Lauri for PG swap.
