I'm not saying he's at his best, but let's just remember that Beal, at his best is a borderline superstar who's tired of hearing all the crap about how he sucks and is the worst deal in the NBA...big chip on his shoulder

at his peak, way better offensively than:

Reaves
Simons
Sexton
arguably, Derrick White
McCollum
Coby White
etc etc
-just consider...

he's only 31, remember what kind of player he has been and could be. Salaries are just puzzle pieces to be managed. One stupidly overpaid guy might be way more impactful than 5 guys paid "correctly"...we might be so used to dismissing Beal that the end of his deal has crept closer and it's starting to make sense.

career average of 21.9 ppg...exceptional high-volume 3pt shooter...not a bad defender, not undersized...plenty of assists when needed...Florida Gator

He fits two major bills for Weltman: can't dribble and is mediocre shooter

How do you guys think Paolo would do as second option and Franz a third option?

Why not 3rd and 4th option

Sga 1st option
Jokic 2nd option
P5 3rd option
Franz 4th option
MJ 5th option

Dinasty

Let me ask skybox for trade packages and cba loopholes :D

Yea, I never understood the draft hype about him. How can you draft a guy as a scorer at the SG / Wing position who cant dribble against pressure?
The shooting at least always "looked" good, so you could hope he becomes a good shooter but the ballhandling... Yikes.
NBA scouting sometimes is so bad.

On surface he was elite prospect. Picture perfect jumpshot, above average athlete, high confidence, solid driving game.

But as usual, strengths were overblown -jumpshot looked good, never went in at elite rate, high leaper, but lateral speed isn't elite, confidence that made him too cocky, driving game limited by handles.

His handles got better, but you simply can't teach good decision making. I watch Real and he still does so many dumb stuff.

However, nba still has talent issue once you pass "top 200", that's why he is still interesting to some teams. We are in middle of conference finals and teams still play Terrence Shannon, Delton Wright and Cam Payne

Best he looked was when Skiles was coaching. He had him running point forward and for a little bit he actually looked good doing it.

I think a lot of Mario’s issues were his mentality.
Tough nose kid but he didn’t know how to adapt to the NBA side of things. Skiles was the only one who can get through to him.

Well he had some empathic dunks and talked a big game so that got people's attention. Turned out it was all talk, probably hyping himself up because he was trying to hide insecurities.

Hezonja was a fantastic prospect...great size (he was bigger than AG, I stood next to them multiple times-it was clear), great skills, killer attitude. I remember him being hyped as "capable of winning the 3pt contest AND the dunk contest". No one panned the pick at the time - other than just missing on Porzingis.

Just goes to show what a crapshoot the draft is and the relative value of trading for a proven player can't be underestimated when you're at a pivotal juncture in your team's ascendance. It's also more important than ever to spend carefully, so a good draft choice is a lot less expensive than a significant proven player...unless you have to wait 3 years to even hope for a contribution. We don't have years to waste anymore. We really can't afford a big mistake this summer...the last two summers haven't helped our team -let's face it. We've gotten better in spite of them.

2023 -2 lottery picks...AB & Jett, extend Cole Anthony. AB was, in hindsight, a questionable pick -good young prospect but still definitely hasn't done much. Jett's just a bust - these were LOTTERY PICKS!!

2024-more cap space than anyone in the league...Isaac, WCJ extensions and KCP overpay, TdS was a solid pick at his spot

2025 - two frps, no cap space, no MLE (at present), TO's on M. Wagner ($11m), Harris ($7.5m), CoJo ($3.5 m), Houstan ($ 2.2m)

Different times.

Scouts got thirsty by watching Dante Exum crossing over girls and chairs, Jokić wasn't even scouted, Nerlens Noel and Jah Okafor were elite prospects in eyes of people and one of Zeller brothers ended up in top 3 in draft.

Scouting only got serious in past 5-6 years. Even in 2018 there were some wtf decisions like drafting Ayton over Luka or trading Luka's pick for Trae . Hell, we drafted Bamba over SGA and Mikal Bridges on team without wing or PG, Kevin Knox was drafted over Michael Porter jr

I'm not very active on social media...any word on Suggs' rehab? Is he fully expected to be ready to go full speed in training camp?

Same with Moe...ACL tear and people throw up the "expected" recovery time, but there's a big variation among patients who've had the surgery, the likelihood of full recovery and, especially, the timeline.

I wouldn't expect ORL to put anything out other than "progressing nicely", but anything from the players or people spying on their workouts?

DeSantis mentioned Orlando as a possible destination for the Tampa Bay Rays.
