What is Tyler valued for? Just curious because offensively Bam has been superior when the playoffs come around and that’s without going into defense where Bam is in the highest tier and Tyler is in one of the lowest of not the lowest.
I don't know what makes you think that Bam is that great playoff performer, the last 9 games when he was asked to help carry the team:
20ppg / 10reb / 4 asts on 2.2 TOVs
52% TS / 27% usage / 0 win shares / -0.4 DBPM
Where is this playoff riser impact you are talking about? He's got the green light when the whole defense is focused on Herro.
Yeah, it's different when you are a 3&D rim running big with playmaking chops, like he was earlier in his career and everything is created for him.
He can't carry the offense and his defensive impact isn't great either.
I heard it too often now that Bam can anchor any defense... he can't and we saw it in the Cavs series.
Herro was abysmal in the last 9 playoff games, but that is not exusing Bam, who for some reason is not held to the same standard as Herro is.
I don't think there is much point in trashing either player for having a team that was totally outmatched in talent.
I’m not even depicting Bam as some elite playoff riser on offense so you’re putting words into my mouth there but he has several key playoff moments that helped lead us to improbable runs. That’s the thing though, despite that he’s still been better offensively than Herro in the playoffs and one of them doesn’t play defense while the other is one of the best if not the best lol.
So a 4 game sample size showed you Bam can’t carry a defense compared to the countless other deep runs in which he did? How about the fact that we’re a top 10 defense every year regardless of league worst level defenders like Herro Terry Duncan etc surrounding him?
Bam has SEVERAL big playoff moments on both sides of the ball, you know that regardless of what the spreadsheet is telling you.
I was genuinely just curious. I get on here and the Herro brigade is **** on Bam, it’s been clear his Stan’s are the main ones who look to drag him down. I’m curious as to why that is considering Bam has been a major part in the franchises success over the last 6 years and Herro has done nothing when it mattered most. Like the dude has done nothing to warrant the clout he gets from the fanbase and each time he went down the team got noticeably better swapping him out with guys like Strus.
Herro is abysmal in the playoffs period, not just the last 9 games. His best playoff run came when he was a rookie coming off the bench, outside of that he’s been garbage and offensively and hunted defensively. You can’t win with Herro playing a massive role on your team in the playoffs, hes shown that for several years now. We have dudes having legit convos on if he’s the Steph Curry, it’s so crazy to me. It’s only fitting his best season came during the Heat worst season of his tenure.
You're the one that decided to bring up Herro in a convo about Bam and Shaq. Herro had a better playoffs THIS YEAR than Bam did. BAm literally only contributed when games were already over. Bam was getting railroaded by both DPOY Mobley and Allen while the entire defense was focused on stopping Herro. No coach has ever woken up and said what's the plan to stop Bam. Let Bam practice jab stepping another guard and clanging the jumper.

It was Herro stans **** on Bam.
4 points with the season on the line after declaring a win

Bam was battling 2 all star bigs who were being served on a silver platter by elite guards and having their entire offense created for them while Herro was getting dog walked by Strus, Merrill, and most of all Ty Jerome (who was unplayable in round 2 because he was getting bullied). Getting singled out by a bench player and then getting flexed on by him several times was a sight to see
You’re comparing garbage to garbage, neither had a good playoffs and Bam was collapsed on several times with his touches so your alls excuses of the entire defense only being focused on Herro is hilarious. Keep ignoring the fact one of them is one of the worst defenders in the league.
I’ll ask you as you’re likely the biggest Herro stan, what has he done in a Heat jersey to make you so defensive of his criticism? He’s contributed little to nothing over his entire tenure in terms of winning while the guy you **** on constantly has several huge playoff moments in deep runs for us.

I really don't know why you feel the need to pile on Herro.
As far as what is fair assessment about Herro:
- Not once was there a situation where expectations on him were high, considering 22y old guards very rarely even play in the playoffs, unless they are generational talents, Steph took till he was 25y to see his first playoffs and the 2nd round is all they got done until Steph was 27 and they won, so yeah I'm not going to trash a guy because he was young and had the opportunity to play, where others didn't
- These #1 vs #8 playoff matchups are whatever, the whole team was outmached, what is there to take away? Herro is not Jordan, Lebron? Yeah he's, not, glad we could answer that question
- Even better players like DWade could not get out of the first round without pairing up with Shaq or Bron and Bron could never win before the Big 3 either
I am slightly concerned about Herro and how he will do in the playoffs, but there is nothing substantial so far, where you can really say;
dang this guy completely sucks in the playoffs, just because he got a chance at a very young age and otherwise there were zero expectations

Herro is abysmal in the playoffs period, not just the last 9 games. It’s only fitting his best season came during the Heat worst season of his tenure.
I don't think you can win with Herro currently as the A tier scorer on your team in the playoffs. Tyler Herro for much of this season completely carried this team, we had no offense if he was not getting going. I think it is a part of his game he can continue to develop. It is a completely different story if Herro is not the only option and is not facing constant off and on ball pressure the length of the court. That gravity is worth taking note of however, as many players in the league cannot attract that type of attention. That is where the Curry comp comes from because he is one of the only guys in the league defended like that. Herro now has to learn how to handle that, and frankly how to foul bait.
Herro at age 25 in his first all star season 24/6/5 47%/38%/88%
Curry at age 25 in his first all star season 24/8/4 47%/42%/88%
Curry at age 25 also saw the emergence of Klay Thompson who the next year when Curry exploded into the MVP would be alongside him as an all star and finish top 10 in MVP voting as well, shooting a blistering percentage from 3 to alleviate pressure. That was when Curry really took off, because you could no longer devote massive amounts of perimeter attention to him without paying a serious price for it. Additionally the Warriors turned Draymond at the time to a facilitation hub which is the same thing we could do with Bam. This moved Curry off ball, and they started running screens and set plays to free him up, with the threat of Klay keeping teams honest on the help.
There is another leap that Herro has I don't think it takes him to being an A tier option on a contender, but it absolutely can make him a star piece on one. He has reached another level, and I feel like he now is an established scorer in the NBA. If he can learn how to handle the type of attention he creates, and use it as a way to help the rest of the team I feel like that is next step. Herro has already proven that when that attention is not on him he can absolutely light it up. He has reached a point where I feel like his is undervalued by many in the fandom, and he deserves a little more credit. While Herro is not the generational shooter that Curry is he is still very very good, and there are things he can provide that are similar in a lot of ways. I think when you look at how to make Bam and Herro work the Warriors have already laid out that gameplan, and it starts with putting the ball in Bam's hands more at the top of the key, and finding another scorer who is an elite shooter to put next to Herro who also is able to handle the other teams best guard. Hard find, but that's what those two need to work.
Personally to me when we talk about pairing both of these guys together for it to work at its best, it comes with Bam at the 5 and us playing smallish, Ware can come in but I don't think he should be starting with this group. We need 5 guys on the floor who can shoot the ball at a high clip and attack closeouts to get teams to scramble. Even if Ware can be a competent 3 point shooter he does not have a face up game, or can put the ball on the floor. It is a clunky fit. People debate Herro vs Bam when really when you talk about somebody getting traded the conversation should be about Bam vs Ware, and who plays the 5. Playing both at the same time when neither are really plus shooters is bad offense in todays game. I see this being a high chance of Ware being shipped out alongside Jovic and JJJ in a package this summer. I think those 3 plus Wiggins and 3 1sts can get us the piece we need. It also does not have to happen right away there is time to be patient here. Herro and Bam are not broken together, but you have to very diligent in building a roster around them that brings out the best in each of them.
Mitchell
Herro
Highsmith
KD
Bam
Is very interesting to me the wildcard being unsung Pelle Larson who I believe has the ability to develop similarly to Christian Braun out of Denver

You're the one that decided to bring up Herro in a convo about Bam and Shaq. Herro had a better playoffs THIS YEAR than Bam did. BAm literally only contributed when games were already over. You see this bs that every big in the league except Bam is somehow being served easy buckets all game.... Where does this happen except 2 or 3 possessions a game just like Bam gets? KAT can go get his, Randle can go get his, Mobley can get his, Even Turner if you put a smaller player it's BBQ chicken. Stop the lies.
The offense is crap for everybody, nobody on the team wants to play at this pace except Spo, that doesn't mean Bam can't put on his big boy pants and punish smaller players, especially if he's playing PF.

Those easy buckets have gone to Ware at Bam's expense. I get Bam wants to play the 4, what makes Bam who he is, is the mobility advantage he gets on other 5s. Playing him at the 4 is a waste in my opinion, and greatly limits our offensive potential especially with him developing a nice shot. You can do things like play 5 out with Bam at the 5, you can't do it with him and Ware on the floor together. It is good defense for other teams to let that ball get kicked to one of them in the corner, and them settling for a 3 at this stage. Bam at least is showing flashes of making that a guardable shot and he can punish a rotational closeout by putting the ball on the floor and attacking the rim. He would shoot a lot better from 3 if a lot his attempts didnt come from the top or elbow extended like they do for whatever reason.

You do realize you can look up percentage of assisted buckets and of the higher level guys Bam is like bottom 2 or 3 in assisted buckets right? Like not even close to guys like Mobley, Chet, Allen etc who just get spoon fed wide open looks all game.
Randle can get his when he’s not playing against anyone good or with size sure but he’s been nonexistent now that he’s playing a team with solid bigs.
I mean the way you all talk about bam you would think he averages 8-10 a night, Mobley in a career year averaged what Bam did at his worst lol. How can Bam not “get his” when he’s scoring as much as more as those guys you mentioned next to far worse playmaking? Make it make sense.
I mean you literally told me our offense would be worse if you swapped Herro for Giannis. Yall say some wild **** about a dude who’s proven nothing.

I am slightly concerned about Herro and how he will do in the playoffs, but there is nothing substantial so far, where you can really say;
dang this guy completely sucks in the playoffs, just because he got a chance at a very young age and otherwise there were zero expectations
I’m not even trying to pile on Herro I’m asking why he’s revered as gods gift to earth by his Stan’s while they **** on Bam when Herro has done FAR less for the organization compared to Bam.

They are both good players the only two that we have lol

Is Lauri good? Yes. Would he fit with Bam? Yes.
Do I want to pay him 50M over the next four years in this new CBA world? No way. No thanks.
That Lauri deal is another Michael Porter Jr or Ingram or Jrue type deal. Are they good players? Sure. Are they franchise cornerstones and legit two way players that can lead your team and make a significant chunk of your cap? Hell no.
The same way I take davion mitchell at 10M per year over Jrue making 35M, all day. Ill take Jovic making 10M over Lauri 48M. You need to build a TEAM. Today's league its more important than ever. Too many good players, too much parity, having big names on big deals ain't it.

If you’re paying $50M a year for an offense only player they have to be one of the top 10 or so in the league, Lauri doesn’t fit that. He’s just putting up numbers as a first option on a bottom feeder, has never won anything. Too big of a risk for the asking price.

Awful trade. Just keep Wiggins or move him for an expiring contract.
