Why does Utah do it?

Towns is not a star for everyone. Not with that salary and flaws in defense. It will depend on the team.

He is certainly not a good match for Thibs who forces him to try and do way too much.

Why would we do it?

We need defense from the center position. We need bench depth. THis trade give us that and give us another star at the 4 . OG and Mikal get to slide down to the 3 and 3 thus making our team larger. And the bench becomes a strength.

I support this deal and deals of this type.

No way Ainge does it unless it somehow benefit Utah, but it's cool to find trades that work salary wise.

I was thinking the same but why be negative. Honestly any hypothetical scenario that doesn’t end in KD oe Giannis is good with me.

How about a Super Mario return next season? He is aiming for an NBA comeback. Maybe he has learned how to play basketball overseas...

Just managing my own expectations, because really that trade looks almost ideal ecept for the lack of playmakers in the starting lineup. But the bench would consist of Keyonte, Hart, Mitch, Deuce, Kolek.... and whomever we could add with he MLE. Ainge would want atleast 5 picks in addition to Towns IMO. ... And I dont think he wants Towns.

***Update***** for some reason I thought George was a better shooter than he is, but is FG% is not good. So maybe this trade is doable. Maybe.

Low key the Knicks need to either get a vet player or a a former PG to join the coaching staff and work with Brunson on his distribution/running the offense and how to decide when to pass the ball quick or when to go into hero ball.

Not CP3 cause CP3 has the same issues come the playoffs. Like if Kyle Lowry wanted to do it maybe.

Giannis, Dame for OG, Bridges, Mitch, Duce, Kolek, Dadiet. Works in Trade Machine.

Are the Knicks being held at gunpoint in this scenario?

We desperately need another guard. Wright & Shamet are ok to round out the roster but we need an upgrade. Preferably a starting SG which leaves us with Deuce Hart Mitch as the bench (which would be insanely good).

Idk how it’s possible. Is the answer in the draft? There might be a 2nd draft guy out there

Kokek can easily be our TJ Mcconnell. He just need a coach that gives him minutes.

It’s only a lateral move, but I’ve always liked Seth Curry. Mathurin is struggling to find minutes with these Pacers. We could offer the minutes, but I like Deuce more. After all, Donte is the guy anyway, I just don’t know how they pull it off.

Guards are easier to come by in my opinion, they just have to change what they're looking for and stop with all the combo guards. There's going to be several unrestricted vets -

Alexander Walker
Beasley
Trent
Oubre
Exum
Walker

Someone among that group is going to be on a vet minimum.

I don't know if either guy can play in a playoff series, what I do think is they can help with bench production during the season and they have potential -

Trendon Watford
Jake LaRavia

Would love to see us go after guys like this that are unrestricted, young and could develop into something. Similar to how IHart worked out for us, except this time with a team option for year 3

I've wanted Watford for a minute now. He could help.

There would be at least half a dozen teams out there who would love to have a guy like KAT. I'm not even sure we'd trade him because having him almost guarantees a 50-win season and a possible ECF appearance. Might be wise to let a new coach see what they can get out of this roster.

Alternatively, I floated the idea of a 3-way with KAT going to NOP, Zion and the Bucks' two 1st rounders going back to the Bucks, with Giannis coming to NY. Of course, there would have to be additional pieces involved to even things out, but Zion could even be sent to a 3rd team like Charlotte or Utah with additional picks going to the Bucks.
