Didn't Minny trade KAT for cap reasons?

I always thought the implication there was they're going to eventually get rid of Randle.

And even those who are ATG-ish get trashed all the time. Like people kept insisting Jokic was a garbage PO performer on these boards, or SGA before this week.

Both teams can win a trade, thats how trades happen, both teams believing they improve. I think the fact Knicks won this trade was never in question, they definitely win this trade. Did Minny also win this trade is still in question. People get too much involved into narrative that one team has to be hosed in every trade.

i believe he has a player option after this year. Just wondering if there is a chance that he passes on that if he really does not want his role in Minnesota. It’s weird because he was great in the first two series but has disappeared the last two and a half games— must just be OKC’s defense frustrating him?

If that was the case, shoulda traded for Siakam. Raptors would've taken KAT back with open arms. Or another high caliber player.

Julius has bodied Siakam since Thibs got him right.

OKC is a terrible matchup for him. His biggest advantage is playing bully ball, which he can’t against J-Dub, Dort, etc. he also doesn’t handle ball pressure very well so that just compounds his issues in this matchup.

What the hell happen to him? I thought he was considered Mr. consistent in the Lakers and Warriors series.

I think he's a good example of the thing we've talked about in other threads. How good or bad an individual or team looks in a PO series depends vastly on matchups. Randle didn't suddenly get worse.

it is what it is. Randle is what he is. Really good player who, when he gets the ball, has a couple of things he wants to/can do. If the opponent lets him do those things, or doesnt have the personnel to take them away, he looks great, but if they don't, he gets frustrated and looks terrible. Maybe not as wild with his production as Harden but along those lines.

I didn't get to watch game 4 but looking at the box score I wonder how much of the production Minny got from guys like JMD, DDV and NA-W was due to a schematic emphasis from OKC to shut down Randle/Ant at all costs. I would have thought that with Minny's primary offensive engines being less productive, the game wouldn't have been close but in fact it was.

Again though, I didnt get to watch so could be totally off-base with this. Regardless, credit to Minny and their roster for a very close game despite only 21 points from Ant and Randle.

Last time they matched up Randle put up 9/6/2, and as a Knick Siakam dropped 52 on him

It's around the 7:30 mark. The possessions at the 8-something mark of the fourth quarter are what I was referring to. He could've tried to run backwards to the corner 3, or just not stand around. There's no place for complacency at any stage of the game at this juncture during the season.

I’ll try to remember to respond when I get home. But Randle absolutely dominated Siakam as a Knick. I know Siakam had the one big game but that’s just one game.

The wrong side of 30 is older than 30. The right side in sports terms would be someone younger than 30. It’s not about the direction time is moving.

He's had 2 strong offensive games and 2 horrid games.

Their defensive game plan has lacked compared to what we saw from Chris last season. Very lazy even

The wrong side of 30 is 35+.
The right side is below 35.
